The Penguin Family.

Penguin Family Grama, Grampa, Dad, Mom and the four little ones went out for a walk. Gramps noticed Porter was far behind the other little ones and holllered at him. "Come along Porter or we will lose you. Why are you always off to yourself?" Grama told Gramps not to worry about Porter as he would be fine and not get lost. Grama knew Porter better than anyone else.

Porter liked being alone, that way no one could tease him because he was smaller than all the other penguins in the village. Porter had learned over the years that being the smallest he never had to work as hard or as long as the others, this way he could go off by himself and do things that were fun.

Right now Porter was thinking of the day he found the snow hill behind the village....

It had snowed for a week and there were lots of work to be done, but Porter had gone off for a walk after eating lunch. He could see the snow hills and went straight towards them. Boy! these are big, I hope I can climb up them. It took awhile but Porter made it to the top of the smallest snow hill. He just stood there looking around then desided to slide down.

Porter lay down on his stomach, wiggled around and slowly started down the hill. Porter began to go faster and faster. Down, down he went , right to the bottom and right out across the snow towards the inlet of water. SPLASH! down into the water he went. Oh, this was fun Porter thought as he climbed out of the water and started walking towards the snow hills again. Porter did not know how long he been playing as he was having so much fun. Porter could hear Momma calling him for dinner, "I'll come again!" he said to himself as he headed for home and dinner.

Porter stopped remembering the time before and heard someone calling "Porter.... Porter"....
It was Grama calling him, so he hurried up to catch up with her, Grama asked him what he had been thinking about. Porter smiled at Grama and said "Snow hills!" " Well," said Grama, "I hope you had fun on the snow hills, but we are at the market now and I am going to buy a special gift for you today." We walked around for awhile then Grama went towards a booth with hats. "Here it is, the best hat they have" said Grama as she put a orange with black strip stocking hat on Porters head. "Now when you go out on your adventures you can wear it. " "Thank y ou!!" said Porter, as he kissed his Grama.
