Nobody Ever Told Me

Have you ever found out about
something that other people knew about but never
told you? Well, that happened to me. Let me tell
you about it.
When I was
younger, I was told all kinds of things about the Bible.
I
WAS TOLD that the Bible wasn't historically
accurate and that men have changed the text with all the
various translations over the years.
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that modern scholarship
has verified the historical accuracy of both the Old
and New Testaments. NOBODY TOLD ME
that the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947
proved that the transmission of the Bible has been so
precise that our modern day versions are totally
reliable and accurate.
I
WAS TOLD that Jesus Christ was just a great
teacher and not God manifested in the flesh.
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that hundreds of years before
Christ was here Jewish prophets predicted specific
events in His birth, life, death, burial, and
resurrection. NOBODY TOLD ME Christ fulfilled over 300
prophecies which are recorded in the Old Testament.
I
WAS TOLD that if I wanted to go to Heaven
when I died, I had to be very good.
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that Heaven is a perfect
place and for us to go there when we die, we have to
be perfect too, not just good. (Revelation 21:27)
I WAS
TOLD that eternal life was something to work for.
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that the Bible says in
Ephesians 2: 8-9, "For by grace you have been
saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no man
can boast."
I WAS
TOLD that eternal life was sort of a "wait and
see" type of thing,
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that Christ said, "Truly, truly
I say unto you, he that believet4h on ME hath (right now)
everlasting life." (John 6:47)
I WAS
TOLD that my own righteousness was enough to get me to
Heaven,
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME that God said my good life
was not good enough (Isaiah 64:6) NOBODY TOLD
ME that if I simply put my trust in Christ
as the ONe Who Paid for my sin, that God would give
me the perfection I needed. "All we like sheep
have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own
way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us
all." (Isaiah 53:6)
I
WAS TOLD that you couldn't know where you were
going until you died. I WAS TOLD that
only God knew that.
BUT
NOBODY TOLD ME about 1 John 5:13, which
says,"These things have I written unto you that
believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know
that ye have eternal life..."
Another
thing I WAS TOLD was that after a
person accepted Christ as Saviour, that person would
lose his salvation and go to hell if he committed a
"very bad" sin.
BUT NOBODY TOLD ME
that Christ said, "I give them eternal
life and they shall never perish; no one can
snatch them out of my hand." (John
10:28)
As you
can see, I'VE BEEN TOLD a lot of things
about God and what His Word says, unfortunately, they don't
agree with what the Bible actually does say. Perhaps you're
like me and have heard a lot of things too. Well friend, do
they agree with the Bible or don't they? I hope you've
understood that Heaven is a free gift, which we can not work
for or earn in any way. Your good works can't make you
perfect, but God will give you the perfect righteousness you
need to get you to Heaven if you will just put your trust in
Christ. Trust Him to get you there today and you can be sure
of going to Heaven when you die!
