Just for today Lord, please see me through.
Just for today keep me closer to you.
Don’t let me stray, help me to not fear,
Just for today Lord, please keep me near.
Help me today Lord to guard every word.
Help keep my tongue from inflicting hurt.
Help me to say what needs to be said,
with words from your heart, and not from my head.
Help me to do all the things I should do,
And to discard those that would keep me from you.
Help as I struggle through each daily chore,
And as my strength falters please give me more.
Just for today Lord, this is my plea.
Just for today help me stay close to Thee.
Just for today help me walk in the light.
Just for today help me do what is right.
Help me remember that I’m not alone,
And that you’re keeping watch from your Heavenly throne.
When earthly pleasures try to lead me astray,
Please steer my path toward the Heavenward way.
Please keep me straight Lord, sometimes it gets hard,
To keep my mind focused on You in my heart.
I want to do things that bring pleasure to me,
Give me your strength so from them I can flee.
Just for today Lord help me understand,
the pain of another that I might lend a hand,
to help that dear soul in their hour of need,
that through my comfort you might plant a seed.
If I in my weakness start thinking of me,
Turn my thoughts back, very quickly, to Thee.
Just for today Lord . . . that’s all I ask,
Help me have courage and strength for each task.
Help me be patient with loved ones today,
That they might see You in what I do and say.
Help keep my anger and tongue in control,
So I’ll not discourage even one dear, sweet soul.
Help me see their needs and not focus on mine.
Just for today Lord, keep me in line,
I know they’re not perfect, but neither am I.
Help me remember the log in my eye.
Just for today Lord, this is my plea.
Just for today help me stay close to Thee.
Just for today help me walk in the light.
Just for today help me do what is right.
Though my earthly master is nothing like you,
Help me to do what he gives me to do,
and through my devotion let him clearly see,
That I am not working for him, but for Thee.
If what he wants me to do is not right,
Help me to show him the Heavenly light,
And if this should put my job on the line,
Help me to trust you to work it out fine.
Though blessings don't seem to be coming my way
Help me be thankful... just for today.
Help me see past all the hurts that I Have
Replace them instead with the promises you gave.
Above all else Lord, your wisdom I seek
help me draw from it when I’m feeling weak.
And just for today Lord, help me be wise,
Help me see, not with my own, but your eyes.
Just for today Lord, this is my plea.
Just for today help me stay close to Thee.
Just for today help me walk in the light.
Just for today help me do what is right.
