FROM THE BRIDGE

by Commander Becky Norris

Hello from the bridge! If you missed the car wash, you missed quite a workout! Several of us were able to assemble at the Furr's at Midland Drive and Illinois and clean a few cars. It was really hard work, but we raised about $80. Not too bad for a few hours work--boy was I ever wiped out when I got home, though!

So, now it's on to the next project. It's that time of year again--time to plan our Halloween party and our holiday service projects. There were a lot of good suggestions made at our last meeting, so it's probably only necessary to pick out one or two and vote on them. All ideas are welcome--come on crew, let's hear your thoughts!

Well, finally there are some new episodes of Voyager--believe me, I was as ready as anyone (and the lady who keeps calling me on the phone asking, "When are there going to be new episodes of Voyager?!" is happy, too) for some new episodes and I'm looking forward to the upcoming shows. Some of them look quite good, but of course, time will tell.

I know not everyone has children, but something very profound has happened in my life. My little baby has gone off to school. It seems like only yesterday she was learning to crawl; now she carries her backpack off to her kindergarten classroom like she's been doing it her entire life. It's a really strange experience that is extremely difficult to explain. Just wait and see. Now we relate on a whole new level, and it's a little bit scary--those of you who know Brianna know that's she hardly ordinary as it is--take that personality and add knowledge and you'll see what I mean!

I wish I had more wisdom to share with you all, but we've been going through a software conversion at the station, and my poor overworked brain is totally fried. So I'm off to the holodeck for some R&R (actually the sofa for a little mystery reading and some dinner!) until my synapses resume functioning.

Until the meeting....
