FROM THE BRIDGE

by Commander Becky Norris

Greetings, Fearless!

It's that time of year again when all good Starfleet members get together to have fun and make merry on Halloween. Not to mention, it's a really good time when we all dress up! So everyone needs to be thinking about their costume (be it Starfleet or alien!) as well as what they will be bringing in the way of munchies. Check this newsletter for a location and time for the party. I've always found that this shuttle has much to offer in the way of chef-ery and I know that we will not be disappointed this time around, either. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there, and tasting what you've brought.

At the last meeting we had some really great ideas about a holiday project that we can do as a group. We've proved over and over again that we are people who can get the job done (as Josef's family in their clean and shiny cars can attest!), and I feel certain that whatever project we undertake will turn out great. For our upcoming Make A Difference Day project on Saturday, October 28, we have agreed to work for the Midland Habitat for Humanity on whatever work they have for us to do. You will be contacted when we know a definite location and time. For those of you who may not know, Habitat for Humanity is a public service project dedicated to providing adequate housing for those in need. They have several ongoing work sites at all times, and were thrilled to hear that we were interested in working with them. Don't worry if you can't exactly call yourself a carpenter--the executive director assured me that they can find work for anyone who wants to help.

Several additional projects were suggested for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we will be deciding on which one(s) to do at the next meeting. So if you want some input on this, don't miss the meeting.

I want to thank everyone who was able to make the additional meeting in September. At our regularly scheduled meeting, we talked about a project for Make A Difference Day, and then agreed to each come up with a project and meet back in one week to present our ideas and decide which project to do. A lot of people did exactly that, and I appreciate the effort that went into everyone's ideas. There is obviously no shortage of worthy causes.

I'll see everyone at the Halloween party. We'll have a spooky good time!
