"Melody, if you wish you were dead why are you trying to live longer than anyone else?" - Mercedes Page
Melody is still in the Dome, and growing more hysterical. James and Rosie try to contact her from Comcen, but she refuses to acknowledge them.
Piers is having breakfast with Anna and Herlinde. Timmy arrives, but refuses to eat anything. Piers is called to Comcen.
Alex tells Rosie and James that there is no way of freeing the Dome lift. He leaves as Piers arrives, but Melody refuses to speak even to him. He suggests letting Jean-Francois or Timmy talk to her, but James can't risk her telling them about the air supply.
Jean-Francois and Daniel wake up with hangovers. Daniel offers Jean-Francois the chance to win Melody back in return for his breakfast. Sara arrives and tells them that Melody has barricaded herself in the Dome.
Timmy wants Alex to give back the stolen provisions. Alex refuses, telling Timmy that he stole them.
Jean-Francois rushes to the common room and uses the terminal there to contact Melody. She says that they are going to die, and that she will have to kill Chac, the cockatoo. The channel is suddenly cut by James and Mercedes in Comcen. Mercedes asks James how long they have left.
In Medicom, Piers tells an exhausted Rosie that she needs some time off. Anna arrives and complains that no one is giving any lectures.
Melody tells James that she needs to be near the plants for the oxygen. Mercedes tells her that it will not last long.
A guilty Jean-Francois tells Herlinde that it is all his fault. Daniel offers Timmy a deal for his rations when Rosie arrives. Jean-Francois asks if he can speak to Melody, but she says that Melody doesn't want to speak with anyone. Rosie is worried about Timmy's fasting, and she takes him to Medicom.
Piers tests Timmy's calorie intake and discovers that he has eaten more than the day's permitted ration already.
In the Dome, Melody is hiding from the cameras.
Timmy owns up about the stolen provisions. Piers asks whose idea it was. In the common room, Jean-Francois is asking Alex how to get into the Dome, when Piers, Rosie and Timmy arrive and lead Alex away.
Anna asks Herlinde to help her with her work. She wonders if God is testing her faith. She asks Herlinde to move back in with her, but Herlinde says that she has to think of Sara. Anna is worried that the ship may have drifted out of God's reach into the outer darkness.
James and Mercedes are still discussing Melody in Comcen. Jean-Francois arrives and offers to climb down the shaft that runs along the gantry arm to the Dome.
Piers and Rosie cannot find the stolen food in Alex's cabin. He denies all knowledge of it and, as they leave, threatens Timmy with a cut-throat gesture.
Herlinde pleads with Sara not to send her back to Anna. Daniel and his posse arrive to search their cabin for the food that Alex stole.
After climbing down the interior shaft, Jean-Francois enters the Dome and Melody falls into his arms.
Alex leaves his cabin, closely followed by Daniel. Jean-Francois brings Melody back to Gantry 4. James asks her not to tell anyone about the air supply. She agrees.
Piers tells Rosie that Anna is "off her head". Rosie feels that she has enough to cope with without more hysterical students. With no principal on board she is carrying all the responsibility for the college. Herlinde arrives and Rosie orders her to move back in with Anna, saying that they all have to make sacrifices. Rosie is called to Comcen.
Alex has a meeting with Mercedes in the Dome. He discovers Daniel lurking in the bushes, waiting to be lead to the stolen food, and scares him off. Alex tells Mercedes that the Ilea is going nowhere fast, but the Command Module is operational and has supplies for two for twenty days. He can pilot it if she will act as his navigator. He asks her to abandon ship, even if it means leaving the others to die...
