"The captain won't use the Command Module, it's all or nothing for him. If the captain goes down with his ship, we all go down with the ship." - Alex Hartman

Herlinde is recording a letter to a boyfriend on Earth when Daniel enters her cabin with a pass key. He says that he is looking for the stolen food and assaults Anna. Herlinde orders him out. A sheepish Anna tells her that she won't be able to send her fax.

Alex is trying to convince Mercedes to abandon ship with him. He tells her that he is only doing it to help everyone else, as they will be able to get help from Space City. Daniel addresses the students asking them to pass on any information about the stolen food, but Herlinde tells him to shut up. Jean-Francois notices Melody leaving and runs out after her. Herlinde tells Mercedes that she thinks Melody is pregnant.

Jean-Francois joins Melody in the Dome. He tells her that she has changed. She tells him that she loves him.

In Comcen, Eliot and Mercedes are trying to sort out the memory problems with Petra by erasing files. Rosie enters and warns Eliot that they may accidentally wipe a system program. Mercedes leaves and Rosie tells Eliot that he should be more careful about who he lets on the bridge. Eliot reminds her that he is the captain.

In the Club, Alex is persuading a confused Mercedes into leaving with him. He leaves and accosts Timmy in the corridor. He is interrupted by a passer-by and Timmy escapes, relieved.

In a study lab, Mercedes is being continually frustrated by Petra's inability to calculate their position. She is interrupted by Anna, who sits down to watch her work.

Jean-Francois and Daniel are camping down in the Dome when Daniel suggests that they raise some spirits with a ouija. Having tested it by asking who Melody really loves, Jean-Francois asks if they are all going to die. A voice calls out "Yes", and Daniel is suddenly attacked from behind. It is Alex and he warns Daniel to leave him alone. Petra calls Alex to Study Lab 4 and he leaves.

Alex joins Mercedes in the study lab. She asks him how he intends to get into the Command Module. He tells her that he knows the authorisation code for the airlock, but they will have to steal the spacesuits. She finally agrees to go with him.

Alex and Mercedes are preparing to leave when James runs into them and asks Alex if he will go to the Command Module and bring back the oxygen cylinders. The airlock will be open and spacesuits available. Alex can't believe his luck and tells James that he will take Mercedes with him.

In the physics lab, Chantal wakes up at her desk. James enters and tells her that they won't be able to keep the problem with the CO2 extractor a secret for much longer. Chantal reveals that she thinks the ship could be inside the coma of a comet.

Alex and Mercedes enter the Command Module. When they fail to cantact Comcen, a worried Eliot orders James to check that they still have remote command of the module. Unsure of what to do, James goes down to the airlock to check that they are coming out.

Herlinde tells Timmy to tell Rosie if Alex causes him any more trouble. Petra calls Timmy to Medicom.

James is relieved when Alex and Mercedes finally return through the airlock with the oxygen. Alex wonders why there was no water in the Command Module's tanks. James tells him that it was needed elsewhere - after all, no one is going anywhere in the Command Module. An ashamed Mercedes returns to the study lab.

Chantal is still working in the physics lab when Timmy arrives. Rosie has sent him as Chantal needs his help with the computer. She is having problems with gaining access to her files. Timmy changes Petra's priorities.

Mercedes calls Eliot from the study lab as she has lost her program. Later, when Eliot discovers that Petra has been issued new priorities, Mercedes and Chantal go to Comcen and argue over what is more important - understanding what has happened, or finding out where they are. Eliot tells them that they must share Petra's current limited processing facilty.

Mercedes joins a subdued Melody in the common room, after spending five hours looking for files which don't exist. She gives Melody her ration and tells her that she needs it more in her state. Melody tells her that she is not pregnant. Mercedes leaves and goes to Alex's cabin. She tells him that after what happened, he is the only one she can talk to. He kisses her.

Back in the physics lab, Chantal has discovered exactly what they are caught up in, and tells James that she knows the way home...
