"Knowledge itself is power, James." - Charles Brelan
In a study lab, Fiona tells Timmy not to trust Alex. Timmy is having problems with a restricted file, designated SAM. Alex arrives with refreshments, and Fiona asks him why he is so interested in restricted files. He tells her that he is doing a complete overhaul, and is checking for any bugs or viruses. Alex tells Timmy that Brelan has invited him down to Space City for lunch.
Fiona joins James and Chantal in the Dome, and voices her concern about Alex's use of Timmy. She tells them about Brelan's invitation and Chantal wonders what he is up to. Fiona tells them that she does not like what is going on, and that Timmy is becoming obsessed with Petra's archive.
Timmy is delving deeper into the restricted files, but Petra will not translate them. He discovers a video of a spacesuited figure. Timmy wonders if this is SAM.
Fiona watches the video and tells Timmy and Alex that the spacesuit is out of date. Petra ceases playback when Timmy asks for an audio soundtrack. Melody arrives and asks Timmy for his help in getting a comms link to Jean-Francois. Alex reminds him of his lunch appointment with Brelan, which is news to Melody. Timmy wonders who SAM was, and what he is trying to say.
James arrives on the bridge to receive a call from Brelan who wants to know about Petra's history. James tells him that she was first on the Elizabeth Bonadventure over thirtyfive years ago.
Brelan receives a call from Alex, who tells him that he is having trouble accessing all of Petra's files. Brelan is not impressed. Alex reminds him that he is a technician, not a programmer, and is more concerned with getting to Mars. Brelan tells him that he wants the SAM files.
In the common room, Chantal asks Alex why Brelan wants to talk with Timmy, but he has no idea. When Alex stalks off, James joins Chantal and tells her that they have to speak to Harriet about Brelan's interest in Petra. An exasperated Chantal tells him that this is what she has been saying all along, and storms off.
Sara sends a message to Bob, telling him that she misses him.
Melody joins Timmy in the Stardust for his lunch appointment with Brelan and Jean-Francois comes over to greet her. The Professor asks Timmy about his work with Petra, but Timmy is more interested in what computer will be used on Daedalus. Melody warns Brelan that Timmy is too young to be offered a place on Daedalus, but Timmy disagrees. As Melody and Timmy argue, the bemused Professor tries again to ask about Petra, but Timmy interrupts to tell Melody that he is going on Daedalus and she will not stop him. Brelan is speechless.
James and Chantal have joined Harriet to talk about Brelan. James suggests they try to find out what he wants.
Fiona argues with Alex as she tries to discover more about SAM. Harriet arrives looking for Timmy, and asks Alex about Brelan's interest in their computer.
While Jean-Francois is having trouble with their lunch orders, Brelan asks Timmy about Petra's archive. Lili paws over Jean-Francois, upsetting Melody.
Later, back on the Ilea, an angry Melody tells Sara about Jean-Francois' problems with Lili. Jean-Francois unexpectedly arrives, to Melody's delight.
Fiona tells Timmy she is sure the files are from ther ship's log of the Elizabeth Bonadventure on the first Mars expedition in 2016. Chantal arrives to tell them that Harriet wants to see them.
Melody asks Sara if she minds Jean-Francois staying the night. Rosie arrives and Jean-Francois hides, but is quickly discovered. She tells him that he'd better get the next shuttle down. Melody begs Rosie to let him stay, and she relents, saying that she hasn't seen him. A resigned Sara tells them they are both very lucky.
Harriet wants to know about the Professor's interest in Petra. James asks abou the first Mars expedition, and Fiona tells them about SAM and the tragic fate of all those on board, all killed by an unknown virus. Petra piloted the ship back to Earth all alone, where it was all covered up. Harriet wonders why the files were not deleted, but Timmy tells her that Petra forgets nothing. Chantal agrees that Petra is an unusual machine... and Brelan knows it.
