"If you eliminate the impossible, whatever you have left, however improbable, must be the truth." - Charles Brelan

In Space City, Brelan tells Cats and Mercedes that he cannot take the only fusion powered ship just because he saw a smudge. Cats tells him that there are five lives at stake, but Brelan wants to look at Amalthea again before he can tell Victoria that her father may be alive.

In their cabin, Victoria tells Sara and Melody that she wants somebody to ask Piers to forget about their date, and says it was a joke. She can't afford it as Daniel will not pay up his gambling debt. Sara says that they will sort out Daniel.

Daniel tells Sara and Melody that he cannot afford to pay Victoria. They threaten to tell his gambling partners that he dosn't pay his debts and that he is a cheat. He agrees to see what he can come up with. They demand 1500 ecus.

Piers waits in the lobby with Melody and Sara, and tells them that it was only a casual remark that got him into this. Melody tells him to relax and enjoy himself. Piers wonders why Daniel didn't cheat, and asks them if Victoria might have...

Daniel joins Victoria in a study lab, asking her if the date is still on. He claims that he was about to ask her out when Piers beat him to it.

Cats arrives on the bridge and tells Eliot and Finbow that the Ilea has been transferred to Daedalus Command. He hands Eliot sealed orders and tells them that he will remain aboard to assist. An angry Eliot asks him who is the Captain on the ship, and says he is going to the Club. Cats tells him that no alcohol is to be consumed during the mission. Eliot tells Finbow to book him out, as he is going down town.

Cats tells Finbow that he cannot reveal what they are looking for, but Finbow realises that it must be a ship... the Copernicus!

At the Stardust, Eliot chats to Lili, who goes over to see Jean-Francois and touches him up. Sara tells Melody to ignore it.

Cats is in contact with Mercedes in Space City. Finbow tells them that they are getting a reflection of the signal.

As they dine, Piers tells Victoria that she has handled everything well. She says her father liked it here, and feels that she would be abandoning him if she left. She would like to go down to where he died one day, and wonders if it will be allowed.

Brelan is anxious to see the results of the scan, but Mercedes tells him that even if it is the Copernicus the crew are probably dead. She tells him that they are getting a picture. It is the Copernicus. On board the Ilea, Cats tells Mercedes that he wants to send a signal to find out if the ship is functioning. Brelan is anxious to get moving.

Melody asks Jean-Francois to tell Lili to keep her hands to herself. She complains that Jean-Francois is enjoying the attention, and leaves with Sara.

An infrared scan shows that the Copernicus is still warm, with at least one reactor running. Mercedes wonders why the crew haven't got out of there. Brelan tells her that the ship is alive, but the crew might not be. He contacts the Commissioner.

Daniel tells Piers and Victoria that they have to return to the ship. Victoria wonders about Eliot, but Daniel tells her that he thinks the captain went on ahead. Jean-Francois tells Lili he is going with the Ilea and doesn't know if he will be coming back. He gives her a goodbye kiss on the cheek.

On the Ilea, Finbow tells Brelan that Eliot is not yet back from Space City. Brelan tells Cats that he is in command. They set a course for Amalthea and Finbow orders Petra to commence launch procedure. Cats thinks they should tell people where they are going, but Brelan wants to speak to Victoria first.

Back in the Stardust Cafe, Melody complains to Sara that Jean-Francois is now on the Ilea and they are stuck in Space City! Lili tells Melody that she did try and stop him. Eliot enters and tells them that he fell asleep on the toilet. He asks them if he has missed much...

Victoria joins Professor Brelan in the Dome. He tells her he wants her to know where they are going, and why...
