"The Sun's rim dips; the stars rush out;
At one stride comes the dark;" - Victoria Frobisher (Samuel Taylor Coleridge)
Rosie calls Victoria to say she has secured her a place at the hostel in Space City and asks her to wake Melody and Sara, as people are forgetting that it is term time again. Victoria is overjoyed.
Eliot arrives on the bridge, and Finbow tells him that he has now been searching for the abnormality for over twelve hours. He thinks that they may be able to follow its orbital curve and pinpoint its next destination. Eliot, relieved that it has finally disappeared, still thinks that Finbow is becoming obsessed and needs a holiday.
At breakfast, Sara reminds Timmy that he has to keep to his diet and not eat other people's food, although she is unable to get support from a distracted Melody and Jean-Francois. Timmy says that he hates Sara and storms out of the common room past Mercedes. Mercedes joins the others, but she is given the silent treatment.
Victoria tells Rosie that she is sorry about leaving, but she still feels that there is a strange force outside the ship and that she will go mad if she has to stay. Rosie says that if Victoria changes her mind, they would be pleased to have her back.
Mercedes runs into James. An argument is cut short by Petra announcing an incoming call for her.
Melody thinks that Piers may fancy her. Sara is amazed that Melody is already thinking of other men before Jean-Francois has even gone. Melody goes to Jean-Francois' cabin, but Daniel says that he is not there and makes a pass at her. As she leaves, Jean-Francois emerges from the en-suite shower. Unaware of Melody's visit, he asks Daniel to look after her when he goes away.
In the Dome, Timmy tells Victoria that he cannot remember Earth, having left when he was very young. Victoria enthuses about Earth's open spaces. Timmy notices that she is totally different when she is happy.
Mercedes visits Rosie in Medicom, to tell her that she is leaving for the French Academy on Mars. Rosie tries to persuade her to stay, but Rosie tells her that the French Academy is much better than Columbus College. Rosie arranges her transfer, realising that Columbus would be much better off without her.
Timmy tells Melody that he wants to return to Earth. She tells him he wouldn't like it and shoos him away when Jean-Francois arrives. He wants to marry her before he leaves for Earth. Timmy rushes back and tells them that there are Space Raiders on board.
The masked raiders stomp loudly down the corridor towards Victoria's cabin. She screams.
The "raiders" attack Victoria in her room, but are stopped by Mercedes and Chantal. The ring-leader is revealed to be Daniel, who says that it was just a game and that they were expecting someone else, not Victoria. Victoria claims that he had his hand down her tunic and screams at them to get out. Chantal realises that they were after Melody.
Eliot is told by Dick in Space City that he cannot reassign Finbow, and will just have to wait for him to be promoted. Jean-Francois enters and tells Eliot that he wants the captain to marry him to Melody. Eliot refuses, trying to talk him out of it. Jean-Francois decides to see the Commissioner.
James, angry at the students behavior, tells Daniel that if he steps out of line one more time, he will hit him so hard that he will regret ever having been born.
Timmy tells Rosie that he wants to go home. Rosie tells him that he doesn't have a home to go to. In the common room, Mercedes tells James that she is leaving the Ilea. James tells her that he has finally decided to go on Daedalus, but it was a tough decision.
Eliot tells a dejected Rosie that she is too good for Cats. Chantal arrives, looking for Finbow to discuss the scanner abnormality. Eliot ridicules the idea and informs her that it has vanished, but she points them to the scanner - the abnormality has returned. Space City contacts the Ilea, requesting assistance in guiding the Earth liner, Valencia, into Space Harbour, as there scanners are still malfunctioning. Finbow enters, horrified to see the image on the screen.
Melody tells Timmy that she is going to marry Jean-Francois, but he is too busy hacking into the computer for more chocolate.
Eliot prepares to assist the Valencia, but Chantal thinks that the abnormality will be on top of them at any moment. Rosie is amazed at the speed that it must be travelling. Finbow warns the incoming ship to prepare for cosmic storm and cancels the shuttle launch - which causes Victoria, waiting to board the shuttle with Mercedes, to panic. Eliot, finally realising the very real danger, orders an emergency launch to take the Ilea into a higher orbit, out of the abnormality's path. In the study lab, Timmy overrides the computer. He notices that the launch acceleration alarms are active. Eliot orders Finbow to tell the Valencia to get out of the way as they are now moving. Before Finbow can speak, all comms are suddenly lost. The Valencia fills the scanner...
