EXT. LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA DAY
EXT. PARKER CENTER LOS ANGLES POLICE DEPARTMENT
INT. HOMICIDE DIVISION OFFICE OF CAPTAIN BALDWIN
Captain Baldwin is discussing a new lead with Arnold
Negrete.
BALDWIN
Arnold, our informants say
two Hispanic guys from the
valley ripped off ten Qee's
of coke from the brothers?
NEGRETE
No shit, those thieving bastards!
BALDWIN
I think there is something your
not telling me about.
NEGRETE
You know Sam, I don't think you
trust me.
BALDWIN
Whoever is behind this has capped
two people closely associated
with you, and I think your next.
NEGRETE
You worry too much Sam, I'll be
all right.
Detective Bastow rushes in the room and places a black
Motorola beeper on the table. There are two long wires
attached to it and the smell of gas is in the air.
BALDWIN
What's that?
BASTOW
(holding the beeper
in his hand)
A telephone repairman sitting in
his truck having his lunch saw
a black guy drive up in a motorcycle,
look around, walk over to Negrete's
car, open the gas filler cover and
do something, he jumped back on
his motorcycle and took off. It
looked awful suspicious so he stopped
me and told me about it. I walked over
to the car and open the lid and
saw this with two wires going into
the gas filler pipe.
NEGRETE
(Very upset)
Holy shit who would want to do
this to me.
BALDWIN
How does the thing work Sean?
BASTOW
The hit man calls the beeper
number and you see this small
metal device that looks like
a transistor, its a micro detonator
and this clay looking stuff is C4.
BALDWIN
How much damage can it do?
BASTOW
The beeper goes off, sends a signal
to the detonator, it goes off and
sets off about an ounce of C4, which
explodes the gas tank. I doubt if
there would be much left of the car
or the person in the car.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARKER CENTER LOS ANGLES POLICE DEPARTMENT DAY
INT. HOMICIDE DIVISION OFFICE
Bastow is questioning Chas William's, while Baldwin
is watching.
BALDWIN
(smiling)
Thanks for coming in Chas.
WILLIAM'S
(surprised)
Sure, Captain, just don't have this
policeman beat me up.
BALDWIN
(pointing to young lady)
Chas, this is Kelly Wells our
secretary. She will take shorthand
and record a tape on the session.
Do we have your permission to tape
the interview?
WILLIAM'S
(cooperative)
Yes you do.
BASTOW
(turning on the
tape recorder)
Where were you last Friday night
between the hours of nine and
midnight?
WILLIAM'S
I was at my coffee house until
about midnight.
BASTOW
Do you have someone that remembers
you being there?
WILLIAM'S
(smiling)
Yes, Buzz Dubois was with me the
whole evening, yah Buzz is my close
bro, yea hear what I'm saying?
BALDWIN
(understanding)
Good. Do you know Arnold Negrete
and any of his friends?
WILLIAM'S
(worried)
Like what?
BALDWIN
(searching)
Like what? What do you mean
like what?
WILLIAM'S
No, not at all.
BALDWIN
He said he knows you.
WILLIAM'S
Hey, I grew up in Pacoima, maybe
he knew me, but I sure didn't know
him. I don't run with the Hispanic
Brothers, I, hang with my own kind.
BALDWIN
What do you do for a living Chas?
WILLIAM'S
Oh, eh,......I work for the County
of Los Angeles.
BALDWIN
In what capacity?
WILLIAM'S
I'm what you call a MARS man.
BASTOW
A MARS man?
WILLIAM'S
It's the truth.
BALDWIN
MARS man is a term the County
Social Services use in their
Man Assuming the Responsibility
of Spouse, thus MARS man. A mars
man is suppose to live one day a
week with a fatherless family to
pose as a male roll model for the
children.
WILLIAM'S
There you see Bastow, the Captain
knows.
BASTOW
Now I've heard everything.
WILLIAM'S
Yo, I get a check from county
every month.
BALDWIN
Are you into drugs Chas?
WILLIAM'S
What happened? First you guys
act like my brothers, now you
are hitting me with "are you
into drugs"? I want my lawyer.
BALDWIN
Calm down, we're required to ask
that question from every suspect
we question.
WILLIAM'S
(surprised)
Suspect, .....suspect my ass, I
didn't do nothing!
BALDWIN
Do you know Gina Ringwald
WILLIAM'S
Gina who?
BASTOW
You heard him, Gina Ringwald
WILLIAM'S
Hey I know a lot of bitches, and most
of them, I just know as bitch.
BALDWIN
When was the last time you saw her?
WILLIAM'S
Who?
BASTOW
Don't play with us Chas, or we'll
keep you over night, and let you
share a cell with a rapist!
WILLIAM'S
Why would I be scared of a
rapist, I'm no bitch.
BALDWIN
This rapist likes men.
WILLIAM'S
(clearing his throat)
Yes, I know ......the bitch..
BALDWIN
Gina Ringwald?
WILLIAM'S
Ya ...Ya ...das right.
BALDWIN
What was your relationship with
her?
WILLIAM'S
She was friends with one of my
close brothers. Yeah, she was
tight with Nikia.
BASTOW
Nikia who?
WILLIAM'S
Nikia Johnson.
BALDWIN
Can you give us his phone number
and address?
WILLIAM'S
Oh, I thought I told you. He left
town a few days ago.
BALDWIN
Do you know where he went?
WILLIAM'S
Mobile. Yeah, Mobile Alabama,
yeah that's where he went.
BALDWIN
Do you know why he left town?
WILLIAM'S
Yeah, he told me his MAMA was sick.
Yeah, das what it was, yeah she
sick.
BALDWIN
The word around town is Gina stole
some product from you.
WILLIAM'S
Some what?
BASTOW
Ten quilos of pure Cali Coke.
WILLIAM'S
I think you guys are talking
to the wrong man, I don't know
nothing about ten kilos of coke.
BALDWIN
Do you know Gina is dead?
WILLIAM'S
No shit! Hell I didn't know that!
BASTOW
Yeah right.

Power's walks in the front door and stops at the front desk.
POWER'S
Hi Tanya, is Arnie in?
BACA
(looking up and smiling)
Hi Candyman, sure, go on in.
INT. ARNOLD NEGRETE'S OFFICE
Negrete is in his chair with his feet on the table.
NEGRETE
(very upset)
Someone tried to kill me today.
POWER'S
What, who, how?
NEGRETE
Somebody put a bomb in my car
and an eye witness said it was
a black guy.
POWER'S
Who the hell would want you
wasted?
NEGRETE
There's only one player left
other than you and I ....
POWER'S NEGRETE
Chas! Chas!
POWER'S
He doesn't have enough brains
to do something like this.
NEGRETE
You know Candyman, I think Chas
had a contract on Gina, but someone
hit Diane by mistake, then later
had to do Gina, to get paid.
POWER'S
I want you to follow him day and
night and find out who he has
doing all his dirty work.
NEGRETE
I'll get right on it.
Negretes Cellular phone starts ringing. He takes it out
of his jacket coat pocket and pushes the green button.
NEGRETE
Yeah, Arnie. (pause) Hey how you
doing bro. Yeah sure three o'clock.
Yeah see you then.
(Upset)
Shit! ......Shit!
That was Nico Zuniga from the DEA.
POWER'S
The DEA, holy shit, what did we
get ourselves into?
NEGRETE
He wants to see me at three. I got
to go.
POWER'S
Hey bro, try to keep my name out
of it. Ok?
NEGRETE
I'll do what I can homes but ....
POWER'S
Yeah I know, you have to look out
for your own ass.
NEGRETE
I'll call you when I find out what
the Hell he wants!
POWER'S
Check your car for bomb's bro!
CUT TO:
EXT. VAN NUYS CALIFORNIA DAY
EXT. FEDERAL BUILDING VAN NUYS BLVD.
INT. DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION
Negrete is sitting in the office of NICHOLAS ZUNIGA
the agent in charge of the valley office.
NEGRETE
(smiling)
Long time no see bro.
ZUNIGA
(serious)
Arnie, what the hell were you doing
dogging Chas Williams?
NEGRETE
(pointing to his eyes)
I've been watching him for the
candyman. Why?
ZUNIGA
Are you talking about the affair
he had with Gina?
NEGRETE
(surprised)
How did you know?
ZUNIGA
Gina was DEA. She was undercover
for us on the Chas William's case.
NEGRETE
(in shock)
Holy shit bro, I didn't know she was
DEA!
ZUNIGA
You and the candyman really screwed
things up for us. It took us over a
year to get Gina in there and you
and the candyman blew it.
NEGRETE
(confused)
What do you mean bro?
ZUNIGA
Don't act dumb, that bullshit
scheme playing the candyman,
Diane, Gina and Nancy.
NEGRETE
I didn't break the law homes.
ZUNIGA
We've had all of your phones
bugged for the last three
months! You better watch
yourself Arnie, the people
we're after are now after you.
NEGRETE
Why?
ZUNIGA
They want Chas's money, and
our coke, and they think you
have both! Who do you think
tried to blow up your car the
other day?
NEGRETE
Is there anything you don't know?
ZUNIGA
I don't know when your going to
get hit by them, but they do!
NEGRETE
Who the hell are they?
ZUNIGA
Members of the Cali Cartel!
NEGRETE
What do you want me to do chief?
ZUNIGA
Do you have our money and Chas's
coke?
NEGRETE
What if I did?
ZUNIGA
Don't play home boy games with me
bro, if you have I can save your
life, if you don't it's out of
my hands.
NEGRETE
What if I knew where the money and
the coke was at, what's in it for
me?
ZUNIGA
You could stay alive and out of jail.
NEGRETE
Give me some details.
ZUNIGA
(serious)
I'm not going to romance you bro,
if you work for me, and do what I
tell you, you will stay alive long
enough to die from some other cause
other than a bomb or a bullet!
NEGRETE
What do you want me to do?
ZUNIGA
I want you to call Chas, and tell him
you found the coke that your guy's
have hidden. Tell him you want no
part of it and that you will give
it to him. Set a time and place for
the meet, then tell me where.
NEGRETE
(smiling)
You got yourself a deal chief.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARKER CENTER LOS ANGLES POLICE DEPARTMENT DAY
INT. HOMICIDE DIVISION OFFICE OF CAPTAIN BALDWIN
Brian Power's is having a conference with Captain
Sam Baldwin and Detective Bastow.
BALDWIN
Thanks for coming down here to
talk to me candyman. We have
information from the Feds that
Chas is going to sell one hundred
Kilos of Coke through some of his
connections in Los Angeles. He's
made a deal with the Cali Cartel
and, your head on a platter.
POWER'S
What the hell did I do to have him
hate me so much.
BALDWIN
Look Brian, I don't care what
you do but don't play innocent
with me I know you too well.
For starters Gina Ringwald was
an undercover DEA Agent and the
Feds think you capped her! Also,
Chas found out you have a girl
friend in Seattle and she's next.
And she has Aides!
POWER'S
(sick expression)
I ......don't know where you got
that information., but she doesn't
have Aides.
BALDWIN
We have Seattle PD detective
in Washington watching Miss West
and he followed her to a clinic
where she took an HIV test and he
later paid for the information
that she was HIV positive.
POWER'S
Oh my god that means I have aides
Too!
BALDWIN
You have nobody to blame but
yourself Brian. I don't think
you've ever been able to keep
it in your pants since the
first day you discovered it.
Power's puts his head in his hands and begins to weep.
Chief O'Malley walks into the room and looks at Power's.
O'MALLEY
What the hells wrong with him?
BALDWIN
I'll tell you later. Bastow take
him in the other room and get him
some coffee, I need to talk to
Captain Baldwin.
Bastow walks over to Power's and helps him up and they
go through the door.
BALDWIN
What's up Chief?
O'MALLEY
I have some bad news for you.
Arnie .....
BALDWIN
Oh my god what happened?
O'Malley walks up to Baldwin and puts his hand on his
shoulder.
O'MALLEY
He went into his office this
morning and sat at his desk,
just like every other morning
opened up the racing form and
turned on his desk lamp. And
Bang!
BALDWIN
Bang?
O'MALLEY
The bomb squad told me someone
had replaced his hundred watt
light bulb with one filled with
a combination of Tide soap and
gasoline. It took his face out
so identification was made by
his fingerprints. I'm sure
going to miss that old beaner.
BALDWIN
Do we have any leads?
O'MALLEY
Sergeant Jackson from the bomb
squad said he thinks it was
done by a mercenary from
the middle east. This is a
standard method of hitting
somebody there!
BALDWIN
You know boss, we're slowly
running out of players!
O'MALLEY
Why don't we bring in Chas
for questioning?
BALDWIN
I promised the DEA we would
stay out of it.
O'MALLEY
If you promised Zuniga then
we have to stay out of it!
Bastow walks into the room and looks around, with a
surprised look on his face.
BASTOW
So where the hell is he?
O'MALLEY
Where the hell is who?
BASTOW
Power's, he said he was feeling
better and he was going to come
in here and say good-bye.
O'MALLEY
He didn't threaten to do something
to Nancy did he?
BASTOW
He said he was going to take
the next plane to Seattle.
O'MALLEY
Captain call Seattle PD and
tell them to send out a car
to miss West's home to warn
her about Power's.
BASTOW
You got it chief.
O'MALLEY
Talk about everything turning
to shit in a basket!

Two fisherman are following a trail in the wilderness
area of Upper Priest Lake. The guide is ERIC RAVEN a
young Native American and RAY MASSEY a middle age man
slightly overweight. They see a small log cabin in the
distance and head for it.
RAVEN
It looks like it's getting ready
to rain, we'll need some shelter
until it stops.
MASSEY
As a wilderness guide is there
ever a chance you could run
into a person that could
hurt you?
RAVEN
In all the years I've been a
guide, no nothing.
MASSEY
It's really hard to get used to
this altitude and fresh clean air.
RAVEN
Yes, I supposed you're used to the
bad Los Angeles air. We're at the
six thousand foot level and we'll
be climbing to eight thousand feet.
But as we're climbing your body
should get acclimated.
MASSEY
Were you in the service?
RAVEN
Yes, I was in the MARINE RECON
branch.
MASSEY
What was your specialty?
RAVEN
I was an INSTRUCTOR for five
years. I taught mountain and
desert survival techniques.
MASSEY
Why did you quit, why not a
career soldier?
RAVEN
Not enough excitement. I think
we're close enough now. Stay here
and I'll go down to the cabin and
see if we can stay there.
MASSEY
Are there any dangerous animals
we should be aware of?
RAVEN
Just the two footed variety.

RAVEN
Anybody home?
CUT TO:
INT. LOG CABIN
A very old man is laying in a small bed and has just
woken up. He reaches for his pants and puts them on.
The appearance of his face is that of a man in his
late nineties. He face is a mass of wrinkles and his
hands are shaking. With great effort he gets up and
walks over to the door.
RAVEN (V.O.)
(knocking)
Hello, this is Eric Raven a fishing
guide and a guest, we need a place
to stay for the night.
OLD MAN
(barely audible)
Just a minute, I'll open the door
The door opens and the old man motions for Eric
to come in.
OLD MAN
Come in Mr. Raven, ..... you
and your guest are welcome.
RAVEN
Motioning to Massey to come in.
OLD MAN
How's the fishing?
Raven stands at the door way as Massey goes in.
RAVEN
The fishing is very good as
always and we would like you
to have what we caught today.
OLD MAN
Please come in and sit down.
Make yourself at home. let
me introduce myself. My name
is Bruce Brown.
Raven sit on the small couch and put their gear down.
RAVEN
This is my guest Ray Massey.
MASSEY
My pleasure. On the drive up to
the Priest Lake River Wilderness
we saw a Historical Monument that
said there are literally hundreds
of empty log cabins up here?
BROWN
Yes, that's how I found this one.
it was abandoned and I fixed it up.
MASSEY
Don't you go crazy up here, no
one to talk to, and nothing to
do?
BROWN
After dealing with the public for
many years, I find this a very
welcomed relief.
RAVEN
It will be dark soon, can we just
put are bed rolls on the floor
so were all set for the night.
BROWN
Of course, like I said, make
yourself at home.
RAVEN
I noticed you have a sweat lodge
in the back of the cabin. Do you
mind if I use it tonight?
BROWN
Sweat Lodge, oh yes I would use
it myself if I knew how! You all
go in naked and communicate with
the spirits, right?
RAVEN
Yes, that's correct but you don't
have to be naked. Clothing is
optional. You work up such a
sweat, you only have to wash your
clothes afterwards.
BROWN
Oh wonderful, it's the first
time in my life I've been
able to communicate with the
spirits! Mr. Raven, you're
NEZ PERCE Indian?
RAVEN
Yes I am, and proud of it. I
noticed several ravens on the
top of your roof. In my peoples
beliefs, it has a strong meaning.
It means there is great danger
for white people while the
spirits are uneasy.
MASSEY
Danger as in?
RAVEN
My Chief said when the spirits
are uneasy it manifests itself
in animal behavior.
CUT TO:
EXT. UPPER PRIEST RIVER NIGHT
EXT. SWEAT LODGE
Massey, Brown and Raven have removed their clothes
and are ready to enter the sweat Lodge.
RAVEN
I will be in charge, so
just do whatever I do,
or the spirits will be
offended.
INT. SWEAT LODGE
Everyone goes in and sits down. Eric Raven is now in
deep meditation and starts a steady chant. The steam
coming up from the hot rocks is like a steam bath and
starts all the men sweating profusely.
RAVEN
I've made contact with the
spirits and they've told
me a person here is not what
he appears.
MASSEY
(confused)
Will you please ask them to find
who this person is?
Eric Raven starts his ranting and he seems to be
talking to someone.
RAVEN
The spirits told me we have a
fourth person here, someone by
the name of Brian Power's!
Raven speaks in his own language then turns and addresses
Brown.
RAVEN
The spirits said you are a missing
person and your name is Power's.
BROWN
I'm Brian Powers.
Raven converses with the spirits again then speaks to
Brown.
RAVEN
The spirits said, you are running
away from something that was not
your doing.
BROWN
It's too late now, I've been here
for six months and I only have a
short time to live.
RAVEN
What is the matter with your
health?
BROWN
I had been taking a special drug
to prolong my life, and keep me
from aging and now my body is
going to pieces. I have aged at
least thirty years in the last
two months. The aging process
at the current rate will kill
me in a few days.
MASSEY
You found the Fountain of Youth?
BROWN
You could say that. At sixty, I
looked thirty and now ......I look
a hundred. I'm very week, will
you please help me to my bed.
