ELVIRA

Elvira first appeared on KHJ-TV (now KCAL) in 1981 and was on in the LA area until the early 1990's. Her show was also syndicated around the country during the late 1980's. National exposure from that show, her Midnight Madness movie series with Rhino Video, cable t.v. specials, and numerous commercial endorsement deals (not to mention the feature film Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, released in 1988), have made El undoubtably the best known Horror Host to the general public. Unfortunately, Coors Light dropped her as their "Queen of Halloween" a couple of years ago (she was offered a deal to start up a home brew product with the company but it didn't pan out), and Elvira hasn't been heard from on a nationwide basis in awhile (though she makes plenty of live appearances). Her alter ego is Cassandra Peterson, an actress/comic who got her start as a Vegas showgirl and in The Groundlings improv troope in L.A. (where she worked with Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens). Cassandra actively supports animal rights causes.
