AL "GRAMPA" LEWIS

Al Lewis is a former circus and vaudeville performer and holder of a PhD in Child Psychology from Columbia University. He was very active as a character actor in the early days of television. Grandpa Munster (officially Count Dracula, thank you) was created for the TV Show, The Munsters in the early 1960's. Al Lewis was forever typecast as Grandpa (before The Munsters Al was Schnauser on Car 54 Where are You?, which also featured Fred Gwynne). He reprised his role for Ted Turner's Superstation to host Grampa's Super Scary Saturday from 1987 to 1989. Al is still active in the New York area and is a semi-semi regular on the Howard Stern show.
