State Experiences:
Tricia & Gina

We recieved our second responce about "State Experiences" from a lady named Tricia, who was apparently one half of the inspiration for "Tricia and Gina." She wrote to us telling us about her memories with the State. A few weeks later, we recieved another email from Gina, who apparently is the other half of the inspiration for "Tricia and Gina." If by some strange chance you have an interesting story about an encounter with the State, please email us at jeff.peck@usa.net

Tricia's memories of The State...

I have been a huge State fan since about their second season, and was fraught about their going off the air.

I became friendly with them in their time as "The State." I am actually the "Tricia" in "Tricia and Ginaaaaaaa," and I was used in a skit that never aired (figures - something along the lines of a frat party. I sat and ate popcorn, drinking O'Douls while Thomas Lennon pretended to be reading to me, and while my buddy Gina was fratenizing behind the couch with Michael Jann and Todd Holoubeck!) It was my moment of stardom.

I was also invited to several of their cast parties after their tapings! They are a cool crew, huh?!

I have had trouble keeping up with them. I tried when they were on CBS, and again when they were Viva Variety. But I was lucky enough to see Thomas Lennon on Friends and Jessie, and to catch Ken on the car commercial, and on Men Behaving Badly, and Mike S. on I think a Dunkin Donuts commercial. And I actually called it - it was Michael B.'s voice on Pets.com. I was also able to catch a few of Kerri's band appearances at the Mercury Lounge and the Knitting Factory!!! I hope they're all climbing the ladder to success, and I hope to see them on movies someday!

Gina's memories of The State...

Tricia and I lived and breathed "The State" for over a year. I was sooooo disappointed when I found out they were leaving MTV (of course, good things never last).

I went to a few of the shows with Tricia and a few of our friends, we had a ball. We always tried to find out where they were hanging out after the show. One time we went to "Hog's Breath Saloon", they were all there and we were just sort of hanging around. I remember we got some pizza and David Wain came up and said hi to us and he ended up eating our pizza (not the whole thing, just a big bite - hahaha).

As Tricia mentioned, they asked us to be in one of the skits, we had a blast, but of course it never aired. I just love their sense of humor and Tricia and I used to call them up at MTV and leave funny (well, we thought they were funny) voicemail messages, singing songs that we made up for them. So when we heard them use our names in that one skit, we were astonished, we were completely giddy after that. They just inspired us so much and brought out whatever creativity we had back then. We made up a whole tape of us singing songs about "The State". We had a ball with it. I have very fun memories of that time, thanks to "The State".

I'm so happy that they are all still going strong in their respective projects. I wish them all the best with their new movie, hopefully coming out next year. I, of course, will be there the first day it comes out. I hope to see all of them again in the future.
