EPISODE GUIDE
THE PILOT EPISODE Part 1 of 2: Agent Foxy Sculder, a young and
idealistic agent has left the FBI agent to work on a project known as the Hex Files.
Thousands of unsolved cases seemingly locked away or just ignored. Concerned at his
obsession, his superiors Section Chief Duckman and Assistant Director Spinner
assign his sceptical partner, Agent Danish Mully, to make a detailed report on
Sculder’s case and debunk his findings.
Sculder and Mully’s case takes them to the town of Ohiyurung in the heartland of
America to investigate a case where children have mysteriously disappeared and
have,
even more mysteriously, been replaced with three legged mongooses which are
subsequently killed. Sculder immediately suspects a conspiracy is at work and
immediately begins taking evidence to his ultra paranoid geeky Government
watchdog
friends, the Tone Deaf Swordsmen, for analysis. Mully, meanwhile, performs an
autopsy whose findings make Sculder believe the children are actually being turned
into mongooses.
Sculder tells Mully that the reason for his obsession on this case is that he believes it
relates to a traumatic memory in his past when his pet hamster was abducted from his
family home... And that he believes aliens are responsible for both that and the events
in Ohiyurung. The case becomes more suspicious and Sculder' gravel faced secretive
informant, Shallow Throat, approaches the agents with a dire warning to stay off the
case. However, a further tip off from King of Pop (and private detective) Michael
Jackson, leads to a mysteriously dark room in town where the villain may be hiding.
However, the villain is inside and Sculder finds himself about to find out the truth
about the mysterious deaths of the mongooses... the hard way.
SHALLOW THROAT Part 2 of 2: Thanks to Mully’s intervention,
Sculder narrowly escapes from the clutches from the villain who is caught and taken
back to Washington. Back at the FBI, Sculder is once again approached by Shallow
Throat. He informs Sculder that their suspect is, in fact, an FBI agent and may know
something of the truth behind a Government conspiracy.
Sculder and Mully interrogate their suspect, who informs them (to much eyebrow
raising form Mully) that he, in fact, heard alien voices which told him to turn children
into mongooses, kill them and collect their legs to power an alien spacecraft which
crashes in Ohiyurung. Not surprisingly, Sculder believes him and when the man is
subsequently killed, Sculder returns to Ohiyurung vowing to fulfil the legacy.
Mully’s scepticism seems to be well founded when nothing happens, despite she and
Sculder collecting the requisite number of legs. Of course, though, as soon as she
leaves the room Sculder has a close encounter with what he perceives to be aliens and
the mongoose legs are gone. And, of course, returning moments after the event as
she does: Mully doesn’t believe a word of it.
Sculder has evidence, however, and in their subsequent debriefing with Section
Chief Duckman and Assistant Director Spinner, he presents photos of the alien being.
A mysterious Pipe Smoking Man who has been observing the meeting, though, takes
the photos and burns them on his pipe, whilst promising to Sculder that they will have
many encounters. Sculder and Mully’s work is not completely in vein, however.
Convinced of the value of the Hex Files by the appearances of high profile guest stars,
Duckman and Spinner decide to keep the work open. And later, Shallow Throat
approaches Sculder again telling him that he has taken a step into the larger
conspiracy which may one day lead to his hamster...
THE BIRDS: Following two mysterious murders in small town America,
believed to be perpetrated by birds, Spinner puts Sculder and Mully on the case.
Sculder reveals to Mully, however, that birds are his greatest all time fear. It soon
becomes clear, though, that the only way to solve the case will be for Sculder to face
his fears...
The case becomes more bizarre when the agents reach town and discover that the
bodies of the victims are both missing. And, terrified at the very thought of the
crimes, Sculder becomes a useless gibbering wreck. Determined to find the evidence,
and perform some autopsies, Mully accepts an offer of assistance from a local bird
expert and general screwball known as the Birdman.
Together, Mully and the Birdman enter the local swamp in search of the animal
responsible for the attacks. They find a monstrous hybrid, and kill it, but strangely it
does not match the description of Mully’s suspect. A visit from Shallow Throat,
however, soon makes Mully realise that, in fact, the case was a whole lot easier than
she first thought and it is quickly resolved... Except for the mysterious Birdman, who
at the case’s end vanishes without a trace...
THE XMAS FILE Part 1 of 2: Spinner passes a highly confidential
file to Agents Sculder and Mully which he claims could lead them to uncover the
conspiracy responsible for the abduction of Sculder’s hamster. It links mysterious
cover-ups and general nastiness to a group working outside of Government sanctions
known as the Posh Club. Sculder and Mully have the file investigated by the Tone
Deaf Swordsmen who find links to a small town called Xmas...
Whilst the agents travel to Xmas, however, the Posh Club has become aware of their
investigation. One of their number is the mysterious Pipe Smoking Man, who is
ordered by the even more mysterious Nicely Waxed Man to persue the agents and
make sure they do not uncover any evidence of the Posh Club’s past activities. Pipe
Smoking Man enlists the help of Sculder’s former partner, now trained assassin and
general dogsbody, Alec Bicep to help his search.
Sculder and Mully arrive in Xmas to find little obvious evidence of the Posh Club’s
work. However, a tipster leads them to an abandoned factory whose files contain
references to experiments conducted on human test subjects. Whilst searching the
files the agents are accosted by Bicep, who takes the evidence but not before they
undergo and incredibly strange experience which Sculder claims is alien. Mully
disagrees with his findings but agrees there is now at least some evidence of the work
of the Posh Club... However, that night Sculder is approached by Shallow Throat who
informs him that he and Mully are still in danger. Moments later, before Sculder can
reach her, Mully is mysteriously abducted from her room by forces unknown...
RESTORATION Part 2 of 2: Two months have passed since Mully’s
abduction and Sculder’s new informant, Mr. Hex’s, claims that she may never return.
And although everyone in the FBI has given up hope, Sculder continues to search for
his partner... And then, mysteriously, she appears in a Washington D.C. hospital with
no explanation for where she has been or what has been done to her. Mully is
extremely ill, though, and her return is no cause for celebration as she is dying from
what has been done to her...
Sculder’s investigations, aided by the Tone Deaf Swordsmen, lead him to believe that
the Pipe Smoking Man is directly responsible for Mully’s condition. And, although
reluctant to risk his position in the FBI, Spinner proves himself a valuable ally by
passing his address on to Sculder. The confrontation with his nemesis resolves
nothing, however, when Sculder can not bring himself to kill him.
Dejectedly, he accepts Mully’s fate and prepares to resign from the FBI. However, his
is then approached by Shallow Throat who offers him a deal. A cure for Mully in
exchange for the Xmas File. Sculder agrees to the deal, little realising the danger it
puts his source under. With his allegiance to Sculder exposed, Shallow Throat walks
into a trap and, after making the exchange, is shot dead.
With the cure in his possession, Sculder reaches Mully in time and saves her life. But
his celebration is muted by another appearance from Mr. Hex, who informs him that
his position at the FBI is far from secure. Indeed, the death of Shallow Throat and the
Posh Club’s continued moves against Sculder’s work are all that are needed for the
FBI to order the closure of the Hex Files...
