Robin Strasser

Robin Strasser
as Dorian Lord

With an Emmy Award to prove it, she is the quintessential woman you love to hate! Although she has added her inimitable talents to some of television's hottest prime-time shows ("Coach," "Murphy Brown," "Knots Landing"), Robin Strasser is probably best known for having dazzled audiences of three top-rated daytime serials. She has been one of the best-loved -- and hated -- performers in that genre for more than 20 years.

After a five-year hiatus, soap fans witnessed her return to "One Life to Live" in 1993 as the definitive Dorian Lord, the role for which she received the 1982 Outstanding Actress Daytime Emmy Award. Robin Strasser is better than ever as the troublemaking Dorian. In a bid to keep herself off death row for the murder of Victor Lord, Dorian found herself in the curious position of battling not only her long-standing rival, Viki, but several of Viki's fragmented personalities. More recently, Dorian has kept busy by helping Blair through Starr's illness, and by working with Drew to break up Kelly and Joey, one of Dorian's former loves. Dorian's new lover, and a brand new and very welcome addition to One Life To Live, is Mel, played by Stephen Markle.

Robin spent five years living and working in Los Angeles. She starred in several television miniseries, such as "Baby M," "Glitz," "Blind Faith" and "Jackie Collins' Lady Boss." She has had recurring roles on "Knots Landing" and "Coach" and made guest appearances on such hit shows as "Dear John," "Murphy Brown," "Murder, She Wrote," "China Beach," "The Young Riders," "Highway to Heaven," "Civil Wars" and "Jack's Place."

Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, Robin graduated from the High School of Performing Arts and attended the Yale School of Drama on a full scholarship. Theater being her first love, she continued to perform there while working in daytime television. In addition to "One Life to Live's" Dorian, she created the role of Rachel on "Another World," and played "All My Children's" Christina.

A founding member of the American Conservatory Theatre, Robin worked with such prestigious companies as the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Mark Taper Forum. She appeared on Broadway in Michael Cristofer's Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Shadow Box," and played the coveted role of Jenny in Neil Simon's "Chapter Two." She has served as President of L.A.'s Women in Theatre, produced three Equity Waiver productions, and just sold her first teleplay.

Robin is an an avid hiker, a gourmet cook, and has renovated 14 houses and apartments. One of her projects is Soap Opera Supports (S.O.S.), an organization which promotes AIDS awareness and raises funds for AIDS research. In addition, she is currently producing a woman's health-care video. Her proudest accomplishment, though, is being a mother to sons Nicholas and Benjamin.
