The Lone Ranger circles around the Cavendish camp and surprises
some of the outlaw gang. A fight breaks out, but in the meantime,
Cavendish and other gang members make their getaway.
The ranger, Tonto, sheriff and doctor discuss a plan to round up
the townspeople loyal to Cavendish and eventually, capture Cavendish
again. A list is made of Cavendish supporters and the Lone Ranger
and doctor make some surprise early morning calls to where they
are living. The doctor pounds on the door and tells the men who
answer that their business is on fire. "Fire?" they shout. As
they step outside to investigate, The Lone Ranger comes up behind
them with gun drawn and hauls them off to jail.
With part of the gang now in jail, it's time to round
up the rest of the outlaw band. The Lone Ranger and Tonto enlist
the support of other townspeople and ride off in search of the
Cavendish gang.
The two groups meet on a road several miles out of town. Another
fight breaks out and Cavendish makes a run for it. The Lone
Ranger spots Cavendish riding away and gives chase. Soon, The
Lone Ranger catches up with Cavendish and makes him drop his gun.
Cavendish pulls his gun from his holster and drops it to the
ground. "Now come on Cavendish" The Lone Ranger says. "What
did you say?" asks Cavendish. While he's saying this, Cavendish
pulls a derringer from his coat sleeve. "Let's go" repeats the
ranger and Cavendish turns and starts to fire, but The Lone
Ranger shoots the derringer from his hand. "Now, let's go"
repeats the ranger.
The scene shifts to the town jail, where members of the Cavendish
gang are being hauled in and put in cells. Tonto is watching
when suddenly he looks out and see The Lone Ranger riding in with
a prisoner. "He come now" says Tonto as The Lone Ranger marches
Cavendish into the jail at gunpoint.
As Cavendish is led away to his cell, The Lone Ranger and Tonto
quietly slip out the front door. Walking to their horses, Tonto
asks "now that gang rounded up, you take mask off?" "No," The
Lone Ranger replies, "I'm going to continue wearing this mask
as long as there are outlaws in the west. I want to make this
a safer place to live. Come on Tonto, we've got lots of trails
to ride!"
Inside the jail, Cavendish turns to the sheriff and asks him who
that masked man was. "I don't rightly know" says the sheriff,
"but I heard the indian call him The Lone Ranger!"
Back outside, The Lone Ranger and Tonto ride into history as the sound of "Hi-Yo Silver Away" fills the air.
