The DVD and Anime Page is here to inform Anime Fans or people that want to
become Anime Fans about the many aspects DVD in relation to Anime. Anime on DVD is
really big now and it will only grow. You got a lot more content, quality ans just
a better overall package on this media.

The effect DVD has on Anime!
With movies and videos being put on multiple formats like VHS, Laserdisc and now DVD for
higher quality I thought I would give you some information on DVD and Anime.
Anime on DVD or Digital Versatile Disc is a great new media for Movies, Games, Anime, Etc.
DVD provides un-rivaled Visuals(Graphics) and sound.
The DVD format holds massive amounts of data storage and is ideal for high quality and sound.
For this article I am going to concentrate on Anime DVD's more than other formats.
The DVD media is capable of providing upgrades
in the sound and visual department:
Visually DVD can also provide some of the best picture quality I have ever seen.
The video quality of DVD is so much better than tape, you can see every little detail and
black line perfectly clearly without the fuzzines of tape. Color is bright and clear which
makes patches of color a flat color and not fuzzy. This really makes a diffrence, and
it is espically noticeiable when you go back to view a tape.
As for Sound on DVD it can provide for multiple sound formats on one disk. It can store
the most advanced forms of sound encoding to run on theater quality sound systems to the most
average of sound systems, on one DVD Disc.
You can get Dolby Surround Sound, THX, etc and most DVDs are coded for multiple languages.
So for Anime you don't need to worry about Subtitled or Dubbed both are on one disk, and
some DVDs like the "Tenchi Muyo Collection" have BOTH the English and Japaneese versions
of their theme songs, talk about an Anime fams dream.
This all provides many options for the crisp and clear sound just not possible to tape.
Its just a better Experence, its the way Anime is ment to be seen.
Anime Compilation DVD's:
Perhaps the best reason for Anime on DVD is the Anime Compilation DVD's. There have
been many so far like "Record of Lodoss War DVD SET," "The Bubblegum Crisis Series,"
"The Tenchi Muyo Collection," "Fushigi Yugi-The Mysterious Play: Suzaku Box."
Hopefully more companies will start doing this because its really a waste to put 2 to 3
episodes on a DVD when we all know more can go on a DVD as a compilation.
If you take "Record of Lodoss War DVD SET," it is half the price of the tapes for the series
which will save you a lot of money (and they are better quality).
I really don't like to buy DVD's that could be compilations
or if I know there are compilations coming out for that series soon.
I think its kind of a waste because the tapes are cheaper than the DVD's
when they are sold as 2 to 3 episodes on the tape.
I don't like to buy the tapes either because the DVD's are so much better and I would
tend to wait for the DVD compilation rather then buy the tapes.
I think Anime companies that don't have a DVD line or they make there DVD's the same as
the tapes wind up loosing some money because people like me who tend to not buy
a whole lot of tapes because Anime on DVD's are a whole lot better.
I don't think its not worth buying a DVD if its the
same as a tape unless its an ANIME MOVIE, its just not worth it. Its how I feel and I
know a lot of people feel the same.
Anime Movies:
Anime Movies have to be the same as a tape because well its a movie, but they are of higher
quality and usually have a ton of extras that make it worth it. I will only buy or even rent
movies or Anime movies on DVD. If your going to watch a movie you may as well see it
the way it is ment to be seen.
DVD Endthoughts:
I based this article on the facts about DVD and my opinions on them. I hope I have swayed you
to at least try out DVD. I love DVD's and really think it is worth getting a player. My player
is in my computer and can play game DVD's as well. It is hooked to my 27 Inch TV through S-Video
and Theater Sound system. Its a really good setup and again I highly recommend one like it.
