EMERGENCY! is a popular 1970's television show based on the
beginning of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's
Paramedic Program. The series takes place in two primary
locations. L.A.'s Station 51 and the Rampart Hospital
Emergency Room. Squad 51's main charachters were
Paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto. The Rampart Hospital
was staffed by Drs. Kelly Brackett and Joe Early, along
with head nurse Dixie McCall. The series aired on NBC from
1972-1977. There were six seasons of regular episodes and
several two hour movie specials. The series concluded in
1978 with a two hour episode where John and Roy were
promoted to captain.
