b/w S &H

Have you ever had a great idea for a Starsky and Hutch story but just couldn't seem to write it yourself? Well now you have the chance to 'challenge' other authors to take your idea and run with it. E-Mail me and let me know what your challenge is and I'll post it here. I'll also post links to any response stories that written. Good luck to all!

CHALLENGE ONE:
We have our first challenge! It is an AU challenge from Pebbles. Here goes: What if Starsky and Hutch were onboard the Titanic? How would they survive...and how they might help some of the passengers below?

Response to Titanic Challenge here!

CHALLENGE TWO:
From Linda C.: Starsk and Hutch are at Parker Center, and they are working on some files. Hutch wants some lunch but tells Starsky that "It's your turn" and Starsky goes down in the basement where the cafeteria is at Parker Center and while he is down there a bomb goes off, trapping those down there.....................Maybe a terrorist set the bomb but poor Hutch will be blaming himself for making Starsky go get their food...............

Response to bomb in the basement challenge here!

CHALLENGE THREE:
From Stephanie W.: Starsky & Hutch love each other and would never intentionally hurt each other (occasional brawl over a girl notwithstanding - i.e. Gillian or Kira). What would happen if, due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. bad drug reaction, head injury, brainwashing, etc...) one turned on the other? When he came to his senses, how would he react? How would the wounded partner deal? I'm only going to invoke a couple of rules: 1) No accidental shootings (i.e. aiming for a perp and missing) 2) Injuries can be as severe or mild as you want to make them. However, no fatalities and no career-ending injuries.

Response to hurt challenge here!

CHALLENGE FOUR:
From Josette: OK here goes. I would like to challenge someone to write a Starsky&Hutch story that takes place in the present. I think it would be interesting to see what they would be doing in the year 2000.

Kerry's Response to S & H in the present here!

Judith's Response to S & H present day challenge here!

CHALLENGE FIVE:
From Linda C.: Timeline:.........The Fast Lane......? Post Sweet Revenge, Starsky is on limited duty but off of desk duty. Dobey sends him to San Francisco to pick up some visiting officials, Starsky flies up there but begins to drive back. On the way the car is ambushed and it flips over killing the officials and leaving Starsky badly hurt. Hutch has stayed behind in LA to do some paper work knowing that the assignment for Starsky is a "safe" one. Until he gets the call from San Francisco.......Starsky is in the hospital up there and needs Hutch...........How about some really good Hurt/Comfort here.........poor Starsk and poor Hutch.

CHALLENGE SIX:
From Stephanie: Starsky & Hutch always seem able to read each other's minds. Always know what the other is thinking. What if that weren't always the case? Write a situation where one seriously misunderstands the other. Maybe Starsky just inheirited a mint and Hutch thinks he's gone on the take. Maybe Hutch has to have his tonsils out and Starsky thinks he's dying. That sort of thing. You can play it for drama or laughs. After all, how much trouble could one little misunderstanding cause anyway?

Response to misunderstanding challenge here.

CHALLENGE SEVEN:
From Pebbles: While I was watching the fireworks display last night I was wondering...wouldn't it be a Hoot if Dobey assigned them to fireworksdetail! I can Just see the chaos now...and I can her Hutch yell..."HIT THE DECK!"

Response to fireworks' challenge here.

CHALLENGE EIGHT:
From Fumie : I just thought I had never read a story about Hutch's recovery from the plague, though he must have been suffered from pain during the time the hospital. His whole body must have been damaged by the plague. Hutch must have felt desperate loneliness without his partner in the hospital room before having had serum applied to him. Now he is not alone to fight those odds and pain, because he has Starsky help him recovering.

CHALLENGE NINE:
From Fumie : I have another idea, and I would like anybody to think about: What if it had been Hutch, who had been shot by that psycho, George Prudholm, in "Starsky's Lady"? What if the possibility of Hutch's successful surgery would have been as slim as none? Would Hutch have made a choice to take the surgery? What would Hutch have done for his partner to prepare for his death? Would Starsky ever have survived his partner's expected death? Wouldn't Hutch ever have predicted his partner's suicide? Would Terry's love have been enough to sustain Starsky, who might have been planning in joining his partner? It sure is the writer's choice, but I don't mean the death story anyway, and I would like it to be happy ending.

CHALLENGE TEN:
From Deana Jordon: Deana's challenge is to write a story using her dialogue. To see the dialoge that Deana would like included, Click Here.

Response to Timeless challenge here.

CHALLENGE ELEVEN:
From Pantxi: We know anything about Starsky and Hutch's life since Dobey had them out of Police Academy. But what about before? We know more or less they met at unit, but let's imagine how they met?

Response to this challenge here.

CHALLENGE TWELVE:
From Maggie S.: What if the 24-hour poison in "A Coffin for Starsky" had been a week long poison instead?

CHALLENGE THIRTEEN:
From Linda: The duo meet their greatest challenge---two girls with no experience and all the imagination.

CHALLENGE FOURTEEN:
From: Jacqueling: The Bay City mayor, deputy mayor, a lot of the police authorities and other dignitaries are all together in a conference center. It's a gathering to honor the city's finest. So not only the officers (amongst whom Dobey and of course S&H) are there, but also relatives of those who are to be decorated (Dobey being one of them so his wife and children are there too). The mayor and the D.A.'s office have announced new policies against crime and the bad guys are not pleased with that at all. So a team of expert hitmen are sent to the gathering in the conference center (as cleverly disguised as their weapons) to take out these policy makers. They get inside, despite tough security, where they create a massacre, shooting and killing the deputy mayor and 1 policeman, critically injuring another policeman as well as Starsky. On their way out they manage to throw or activate some explosives which damage the entrance to the conference center (seriously) injuring 3 more people. They damage the entrance in such a way, that it will take considerable time to get the debris out to clear a passage for the emergency services for the dead and the wounded. So the premise is complete panic and chaos, devastation and increasing worry and concern for the wounded. Cap. Dobey and his family and Hutch are of course extremely concerned about the severely injured Starsky whose time is running out as the fire department and other rescue services give their all to clear the entrance a.s.a.p.

CHALLENGE FIFTEEN:
From Stephanie: Okay, pick a scene from an episode of S&H and rewrite it from one particular character's point of view. Now, to keep this interesting, I'm going to impose the following restrictions: No scenes from The Fix, A Coffin for Starsky, Bloodbath, Survival, Shootout, Sweet Revenge, The Plague or any other ep that has one desperately near death. Maybe what Starsky was thinking while he was in the showgirl's dressing room in The Las Vegas Strangler or something like that. You can do a serious scene or a comic one, just not one from any of the eps that have been done to death already.

See Christina's response to this challenge here.

CHALLENGE SIXTEEN:
From Jacqueline: What if S&H would somehow after their days duty end up visiting Cheers and a conversation between the main characters (Starsky, Sam, Woody on the dummies side versus Frasier and Hutch on the smart guys side, with interjections from Carla, Rebecca, Cliff and Norm to complete it all). I can just imagine the frustrated looks and rolling eyes of Frasier and Hutch each time Starsky, Sam or Woody come up with "brilliant" ideas and one liners.

CHALLENGE SEVENTEEN:
From Lisa W.: This challenge is detailed, so I've given it's own page. Lisa is really hoping that someone will give this one a shot. To see it, just click here.

CHALLENGE EIGHTEEN:
From Josette: Here's a Christmas Challenge for all you talented writers out there. Why not write a story about Starsky's mom coming for a suprise visit during the holidays.

CHALLENGE NINETEEN:
From Pantxi: I challenge you guys to write a story based upon the Led Zeppelin song 'Stairway to Heaven'. I just love that song, maybe it could end up with something great, so it's up to you. By the way, you don't have to worry about the date, but the song came out in 1971. Good luck!

CHALLENGE TWENTY:
From Linda: Another what-if ! It is 2000/2001. Starsky and Hutch are leading their lives with each other and their families, including wives, ex-wives,girlfriends and kids. What would happen if one of the guys is confronted from something out of their past like a child they never knew?
