Lucky straightened out his suit and looked at Frisco. “Thank you Agent Jones.” He said grinning. “Nice work, he was completely surprised.” Frisco said walking over to the desk and casually looking over the papers that were lying there. “You expected anything less from me?” Lucky said raising an eyebrow. Frisco laughed at that. “Oh no, you know I would only send the best for this assignment.” “So spill, what did you find in the warehouse?” Lucky asked. Frisco sighed, “No diamonds.” “Damn!” Lucky cursed slamming his fist down on the desk. “I was sure Ray was dealing with him!” “But now we know there’s only one other port he can go through. We’ve shut down all the rest.” Frisco said giving his trademark confident grin. Lucky shook his head and groaned. “Of all the times not to live up to my name.” “We can’t avoid it Lucky, we have to go back to Port Charles. All of us.” Frisco said as Robert strode into the room.

“Elizabeth Webber? The Elizabeth Webber?” Sly said astounded. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” “I think I heard more about you from Lucky than I heard about my family. He couldn’t stop talking about you.” Sly said grinning. Then his smile faltered. “I’m really sorry Elizabeth. If he meant to you half as much as you meant to him, then you must still miss him so much.” “Wow, I can’t believe you even remembered he had died.” Elizabeth shot as she walked to the counter. “What is that supposed to mean?” Sly shouted. Bobbie took on an “uh-oh” expression that she had used many times around Liz in the last five years. “Lucky loved you like a brother and you didn’t show up for the funeral. And don’t tell me you didn’t know about it, cause I was with Laura when she talked to you on the phone.” “Then you know that I told Laura that I was out of the country and couldn’t come!” “For your cousin that you loved like a brother, you couldn’t get on a plane? For your aunt and uncle who treated you like you were their son?” Elizabeth said passionately. Luke and Laura had always loved her like her own parents never had and she knew Laura was disappointed when Sly couldn’t come. “Look you don’t know anything about me, so I wouldn’t judge me if I were you.” Sly said angrily. Then he paused and looked at Liz carefully. “You know, you don’t seem like the sweet Elizabeth that Lucky told me so much about.” Elizabeth wasted no time in slapping Sly hard across the face. “Whatever I don’t know about you, you know even less about me!” With that she turned on her heal and walked up the stairs to her room. “Damn!” Sly cursed in pain. He turned to Bobbie still surprised by Elizabeth hitting him. Somehow Bobbie didn’t look all that surprised. “I don’t think I’ve ever been hit that hard.” Bobbie smiled, “Just be thankful she didn’t punch you.” She walked into the kitchen and came back with a small ice pack. “So does she do that often?” Sly said wryly. “Only when she’s provoked. If you ask me she should’ve punched you.” Bobbie said grinning. Before Sly could respond there was a jingle from the door signaling that someone had come in. “Sis poor the coffee, it’s been a rough night.” Came the bellow that Sly would know anywhere, even after so many years. Sly turned around and came face to face the infamous Luke Spencer.

“You guys can handle this right?” Lucky said growing suddenly nervous. “I can’t go back to Port Charles. Everyone thinks I’m dead!” Robert chuckled. “You’ve only be dead for five years, I outrank you.” He said with a grin. “You know you are just as annoying as my father said you would be.” “Thank you.” Robert said with a little bow. Frisco shook his head at his friends. “Lucky I would have thought you would have been the first on that plane. You’ve been whining about going back to Port Charles for five years. Why are you so scared now?” “It’s not that I’m scared, it’s just that when I go back to PC I want Faison and that whole ordeal behind me.” Frisco smiled slightly. “The only problem is that to put this whole thing behind you, you have to go to Port Charles. It’s a vicious circle.” “But I’m a danger to my family for as long as Faison’s alive.” “I hate to break this to you Luck but you are our biggest asset to getting Faison behind bars.” Frisco said seriously. “You have to go.” “What about Elizabeth?” Robert said quietly. “Don’t you want her to know you’re alive?” Lucky sighed and sat down on one of the couches in the penthouse. “Maybe she’s better off with me ‘dead.’ And even if she knew she’d hate me for letting her believe that.” “Even if she was mad, she’d get over it. You did this to protect her.” Robert said calmly. “Yeah but even if I go back and everything goes as planned and Faison bites the dust and she takes me back, I’m still a WSB agent. What if I can’t stay out? I don’t want to end up like Frisco, pinning after a woman I can’t have.” Lucky paused and looked at Frisco. “Sorry man, no offense.” “Gee thanks, non taken.” Frisco said sarcastically. “If you haven’t noticed, you already are me Lucky. But you’re situation is different than mine, it’s a hell of a lot better than mine! Elizabeth thinks you’re dead, Felicia thinks I love the job more than I love her! She doesn’t know I’ve stayed away from her all these years to protect her and my girls. She doesn’t know that Faison has been watching her and the girls for all these years, threatening them at every turn just to keep me away from them. I don’t have the chance you do, don’t waste it!” Frisco turned and stalked off angrily. Lucky sighed and started to go after his friend, but Robert put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. “Don’t lad, let him cool off.” “Guess I pushed his buttons, huh?” Lucky said sheepishly. He sat back down on the couch and put his face in his hands. “He’ll be all right. He’s always been too sensitive.” Robert said pouring himself and Lucky a scotch. “I still shouldn’t have mentioned Felicia.” Lucky said shaking his head. “Don’t worry about it, he’s just convinced himself that he has no chance with Felicia. He’s need a swift kick in the ass is what he needs.” Robert said handing Lucky his drink and sitting down beside him. “But he was right. You shouldn’t waste your chances.” “I know Elizabeth, no matter how much she’s changed. I don’t know if she could forgive me for letting her grieve all these years.” “You were always with her.” Robert said softly. Lucky looked at him carefully. “What do you mean?” Robert chuckled. “Oh don’t think that Frisco and I don’t know about the gifts you sent her, or how her art education was suddenly paid for.” “She got a grant.” Lucky said smiling slightly. “Yeah, with a money donated by a man named Lenny Sikes. I always wondered how nobody ever figured that out.” Robert said smiling. “The money was untraceable. I made sure of that.” “I know. If it wasn’t we wouldn’t have let you do it.” Robert said with a smug look on his face. Lucky just laughed and took a drink of his scotch. Outside of the door they both heard shouting followed by the sound of someone being kicked. The door flung open and a very angry and worried Francesca Vechio flew into the room. “Louie?” She asked running towards Lucky. She went to hold him but he put his hands on her shoulders and held her away from him. Lucky glanced angrily at the door and saw the agent outside doubled in pain over holding his groin. “Frannie, what are you doing here?” He said a little bit harshly. “Daddy’s lawyers called and said both of you had been taken to the police station. And I talked to Daddy and he said he hadn’t seen you since he was taken from here. What’s going on Louie?” She said worriedly. “Frannie everything’s all right. You’re dad has been arrested by the WSB, but I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding. And that’s what I’m doing right now, I’m trying to figure this whole thing out so that everything can go back to normal.” He talked to her like she’d been talked to since the day she was born. “But why aren’t you downtown and why didn’t they want me to come in here. I want to know what’s going on Louie. The real truth, not the lies I’ve been getting all my life!” Lucky looked nervously at Robert. He surprised the heck out of Lucky when he signaled for him to tell Frannie the truth. Lucky took a deep breath. “OK Fran, you wanna know the truth? The truth is that your father has been arrested on RICO charges and the WSB has more than enough proof to put him away for a long, long time. I know because I got them that proof.”

Sly stared at the man he still saw as a father figure. Luke looked at him questioningly. “Sly?” “In the flesh Uncle Luke.” Luke smiled and walked up to Sly and hugged him. “I guess it was just too hard to stay away from the Chuckles, huh?” Luke asked with a grin. “Oh you know how this place is, it always sucks you back in.” “Yeah I know, I can never seem to stay away for too long.” Luke said shaking his head. Sly looked at Luke sadly. Still, five and a half years after Lucky’s death Luke looked dead inside. Sly felt horrible that he stayed away for so long, but that couldn’t be helped. “So how long have you been in town Sly?” Luke asked sitting down at the counter. “Just today.” Sly said sitting next to Luke and picking up his small ice pack. He’d never know a mear slap could sting so bad. “Oh, and you came to visit us first? I’m touched.” Then Luke spotted the ice pack. “What happened there kid?” He asked, looking at the red mark in Sly’s cheek. “Ah! I see you met the charming Miss Webber.” Luke said chuckling. “How did you know?” Sly asked astonished. “The imprint of the ring she always wears is still on your cheek. You should be thankful she didn’t punch you. She’s got a mean left hook!” Sly smirked. “You almost sound proud Luke.” “Damn straight I’m proud! I love that girl like a daughter.” Then Luke’s expression drifted to sadness as he thought about how she should have been his daughter. “Here’s your coffee Luke.” Bobbie said kindly, knowing exactly what he was thinking about. “Thanks Barbara.” The door jingled again and Luke turned around to see Jason Morgan. Jason walked to the counter and sat down on the other side of Sly. “Who’s the new guy?” he said eyeing Sly skeptically. Luke laughed, “Jason Morgan this is Sly Eckert.” Sly turned to Luke. “He looks familiar.” “Formally Jason Quartermain.” “Emily’s big brother?” Sly said turning to Jason. “So what’s up with the Morgan?” “It’s a long story. What happened to your face?” Jason said in his usual short manner “It’s a long story.” Sly returned. Luke looked over Sly’s head at Jason and mouthed “Elizabeth” Jason nodded knowingly and turned to Bobbie. “Is Liz upstairs? I saw her bike outside.” “Yeah she is Jason and could you tell her that her rent’s a week late again.” Bobbie said frowning. She never liked bugging Liz about her rent because she was like family, but there were bills to pay. Jason shook his head and handed Bobbie a wad of cash. “Don’t bother her about it Bobbie. She’s been having a rough time.” Bobbie shook her head and tried to push the money back into his hand, but he wasn’t cooperating. “Jason you know she’ll be furious at both you and me if I take this.” “Let me deal with her OK?” Jason said making his way towards the stairs. Luke smirked. “Famous last words.” |
