Elizabeth clutched at Jason’s supporting hand as half the crowd stared at her in confusion at her outburst, and the other half stared in pity because they thought that the poor girl had finally cracked. Something inside her snapped when she saw Lucky turn and bolt.
“NOOO!” She screamed, and took off running after him. She could hear half the town following her, but she didn’t care. She was only about 15 feet from him when he reached the stairs and took all of them in a single leap.
“Lucky stop!” She cried in desperation. He kept going. Suddenly anger bubbled up inside her and she screamed; “Don’t you dare run away from me!”
Lucky’s figure froze at her words. Right where their bench was. For some reason at that moment she was struck with the thought that it was ironic that of all places he could stop along these docks he stopped there.
Lucky turned around slowly and stood stiffly in front of her. Elizabeth walked up to him and stood in front of him. She slowly reached her hand up to his face and traced his face with her fingers reverently. Her fingers ran over his jaw and lips and then up to his eyes. She still sometimes saw those eyes in her dreams.
Her hand dropped and a thousand thoughts went through her head. Where has he been all this time? Why was he running away? Why didn’t he come back to me? Then all her protective walls went up and she tensed immediately. I don’t need him. Why is he here after all this time? I’ve needed him so much in the past, where the h*ll was he then!?
Elizabeth brought her hand back and slapped Lucky hard across the face. She heard the collective gasp of the crowd that had gathered at the top of the stairs.
“Elizabeth?” A soft voice said from behind her and she turned around.
It was Jason and he looked worried. She looked up into his eyes and whispered. “He’s real, right?”
Jason nodded, sad that she even had to ask that question, she’s already been through so much. “Yeah, he’s real.”
“Oh good.” She mumbled as her legs gave out from under her and she slipped into unconsciousness.
Lucky lunged forward to catch her, but Jason was already there. Jason lifted her effortlessly into his arms and carried her towards the stairs without a second look at Lucky.
Alexis skidded to a halt at the top of the stairs, followed closely by Sonny.
“Jason is she all right?” She asked frantically seeing only Elizabeth laying limply in Jason’s arms not Lucky’s frozen figured standing on the docks.
“I think she just fainted, but I’m going to take her to GH to make sure.” Jason said hurriedly and walked quickly away from them.
“God Sonny, I knew this would happen!” Alexis exclaimed painfully. She turned around and glared at Lucky.
Sonny wrapped his arms around her from behind and pressed his face into her hair. “She’s gonna be fine Lex.”
Alexis shook her head. “I don’t know Sonny, I don’t think she’s ever been fine, not since before I found out about her.” Alexis looked around the thinning crowd expectantly. “Where are Luke and Laura?”
“Laura was taken to GH for a head injury and someone said they saw Luke getting into an ambulance, but I don’t know why.”
Alexis sighed. “Well then they’ll find out soon enough.”
She suddenly broke out of Sonny’s embrace and ran down the steps to Lucky. “I told you to tell her yourself. But no, you’ve been lurking around in the shadows and she saw you.”
“I know.” Lucky said looking down at the ground. “Alexis you know I would never cause her pain.”
“What do you think you’ve done! For the past five years she’s been in pain.” Alexis yelled.
“I was trying to…” Lucky started but Alexis cut him off.
“Protect her I know. But she doesn’t know that yet, all she knows is that someone she’s mourned for over five years is suddenly standing in front of her without any explanation. And I don’t honestly know how she’s going to react to that explanation of yours.” Alexis said angrily. She knew that Lucky had not meant to hurt Liz, but right now all she was thinking about was that image of Jason carrying her limp daughter back to the ambulances.
“Believe me Alexis my life hasn’t been perfect, part of me died everyday I wasn’t with her!” Lucky said, his voice filled with anguish.
“Yeah but there’s a difference between your life and hers these past five years. You were living your life and she was trying desperately trying to hold hers together.” Alexis spat and turned on her heal and stormed off the docks. Sonny watched his wife leave and then turned back to Lucky. Lucky’s eyes were filled with pain and guilt. Sonny knew that look well and as much as Elizabeth had become like another daughter to him he could sympathize with Lucky. He knew what it felt like to blame all the wrongs in someone else’s life on yourself. Then Sonny saw Lucky change before his eyes. The young man drew himself up, squared his shoulders, and looked at Sonny with eyes that were all business.
“Sonny, we have work to do.” ~*~
Luke walked down the hall to the cafeteria. Robert was still unconscious and he couldn’t find the other patient he was looking for. Suddenly someone grabbed him and pulled him into what he assumed was a storage closet.
“What the…” He started but was cut off by a mouth quickly covering his.
Luke smiled under her lips and wrapped his arms around her tightly. His tongue ventured into her waiting mouth and danced with hers. Luke reluctantly pulled his lips away from her, but he rested his forehead against hers and kept his arms around her.
“Mmm…” He mumbled licking his lips. “I found you.”
“Uh-uh.” She said shaking her head almost imperceptibly. “I think I found you.”
Luke shrugged his shoulders. “Whatever.” He leaned back and tried to look at her in the dim light. “They said you were brought here, are you okay?”
She smiled in the dark. “Just a bump on the head. But why are you here? Are you all right?” She asked frantically searching his body for wounds.
He chuckled and ducked away from her when she hit a ticklish spot. “No I’m fine, but I did find someone pretty interesting though.”
She raised an eyebrow at him. “Who?”
“Robert.”
“What? Robert? How?” She stammered.
“I don’t know the details. All I know is he’s alive and I saw him being loaded into an ambulance near the warehouse, so I jumped in and came with.”
“Does Mac know yet?”
Luke nodded his head. “Yeah he was with me when I saw him.”
“Good.” She mumbled and then looked up at him. “Oh wow Robert. What about Anna?”
“I don’t know.” Luke fell silent and then looked at the door that led to the outside world.
“What about…?” Luke said jerking his head toward the door.
She shook her head. “Luke, I don’t know where he is and right now I don’t care. I was so worried about you.” She said snaking her arms around his neck to draw him closer.
Luke leaned his forehead against hers again. “I know. I was worried about you too Angel.”

Frisco had seen Lucky bolt past him and he had seen Liz follow, and figured it best if he stayed out of it. He turned around and saw someone that he’d been avoiding.
“Frisco.” Mac said shaking his head. “Felicia said you were in town, but I didn’t actually believe her. And then I saw my not so dead brother being loaded into an ambulance and somehow I knew you would show up.”
Frisco sighed; he had never understood how this man was related to Robert. Then again Robert was the only other person who could infuriate him that much. “Mac, I know you don’t understand, but it was for your…”
“My own safety, I know. Believe me I’ve heard that story before. I’ve even told it to Maxie and Georgie a couple of times when they wondered where their daddy was.” Mac shook his head. “You know I don’t think I’ve ever hated someone like I hate you. I have raised your daughters for years, but they still call you ‘dad.’ I’ve loved Felicia for years, I’m the one that was there for her and somehow I still loose her to you even though you’re no where around.”
“Wait Mac, I wasn’t the reason you and Felicia got divorced. The way I heard it, it had something to do with Luke Spencer.” Frisco said defensively.
“No Frisco, it was always you. I know nothing happened with Luke. The truth has always been that I was just a substitute for you. Every guy would be that for Felicia, I just finally figured it out.”
Frisco could tell that this was hurting Mac to tell him this, but he couldn’t help but be happy. “Listen Mac, I don’t have time to explain right now, and honestly I don’t know all the answers. I only found out about Robert myself about seven years ago. And he hasn’t ever talked about the five years before that.”
Mac nodded his head stiffly. “There never are enough answers with the WSB is there.”
Frisco smirked. “Nah, that would be too easy.” He looked up and saw Felicia standing near the firemen with her arms wrapped around herself tightly. Frisco walked over to her without even saying a word to Mac.
“Felicia, you okay?” He asked softly once he was right behind her.
“Frisco, what are you doing here?” She said turning around and instinctively wrapping her arms around him. In her heart she knew she had been worried about him, knowing somehow that he would be here and when she couldn’t find him she was worried.
Frisco held her tightly, just enjoying having her in his arms again, after so long. After a long while he regretfully released her. “The girls weren’t here were they?”
Felicia’s face fell. He only wants to know about the girls. That’s the only reason why he’s here at all. “They’re fine. Maxie was on a date and Georgie had a sleep over.”
“Maxie was on a date?” Frisco said in a tone that said that she was too young. Of course she could be 30 and he would still think she was too young.
“She’s seventeen Frisco.” Felicia said rolling her eyes.
“She’s too young.” He grumbled giving her a small smile.
Felicia looked around her and noticed that the crowd had thinned considerably.
“Where’d everyone go?”
Frisco looked around and then nodded off to the right. “I don’t know but wherever they went they seem to be coming back.” Then he noticed Jason carrying an unconscious Elizabeth to an ambulance.
“Oh sh!t.”

“He called me just after I’d gotten out of the warehouse.” Sonny said walking with Lucky into an alley behind one of the warehouses. “I don’t think it was Faison though, he didn’t have an accent.”
Lucky nodded. “Probably somebody working for him. What did he have to say?”
“Just that somebody had a very tempting offer for me and in light of the recent events it would be in my best interest to accept. He told me to meet him at midnight, here.” Sonny said handing Lucky a piece of paper with the address written on it.
“Good we’ll be at the meeting too.” Frisco said coming up to them and snatching the paper from Sonny’s hands.
“Who are you?” Sonny asked dangerously, drawing his gun.
Lucky held up his hand to stop Sonny. “Don’t worry about it Sonny, this is my partner Frisco Jones.”
Sonny looked at Frisco suspiciously. “How’d you get by my guards?”
Frisco shrugged and smiled secretively. “I have my ways.”
Sonny groaned and turned to Lucky. “What’s with you WSB guys and sneaking up on people?”
Lucky ignored the comment. “We’ll be at your penthouse at 11:30.”
Sonny nodded assuming Lucky wanted to talk to Jones. “I’m going to the hospital.” Sonny said looking at Lucky expectantly.
Lucky nodded understandingly. “I’ll be there soon.”
Sonny nodded silently and walked away.
Frisco waited a few moments to make sure Sonny was out of earshot. “Lucky what happened?” He said more concerned than anything. He knew that seeing Elizabeth was the moment that Lucky dreaded and anticipated the most. As much as Lucky infuriated him sometime, Frisco thought of him as a little brother, someone he could take care of and watch over just as Tony had done for him.
Lucky sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Elizabeth, along with half the town, saw me.”
“Yeah I figured as much.”
Lucky leaned back heavily against the wall and rubbed his hands over his face as if he could erase the memory of what happened. “I didn’t even get a chance to talk to her Frisco. She slapped me and then she fainted.” Lucky pushed away from the wall abruptly and kicked the opposite wall of the alleyway hard. “And Jason caught her. She fell backwards and Jason was there to catch her! Jason’s been there for her for the last five years, not me!”
“You have to give her time kid. Especially knowing what she’s been through, you have to let her absorb things.” Frisco said gently.
“I know, I just need to explain things to her.” Lucky shook his head to rid his mind of the fear that she would never be able to love him again. “We need to get to GH anyway to check on Robert. Have told Sean what happened yet?”
“I’ll call him on the way.” Frisco said walking with Lucky towards the car. “To GH to check on Rob, then check on Elizabeth, then to Sonny’s, and off to a meeting with a psychopath, wow our night is full.” Frisco said dryly.

Jason rushed into GH behind the paramedics who had Liz. The paramedics had thought that she had just fainted, but she hadn’t woken up with smelling salts so they wanted to take her to GH to be safe, which was what Jason wanted in the first place.
“Bobbie!” Jason called as he saw her. She was still in her evening gown from the gallery. Jason figured she had taken a ride with one of the ambulances to help out with the injuries.
“Jason, what happened to Liz?” Bobbie asked running over. “When I left I heard that you got her out all right.”
“She fainted later on the docks when she saw… something disturbing.” Jason said, his face guarded. “But she hasn’t woken up yet.”
Bobbie glared at Jason suspiciously and then put her focus back on Elizabeth.
Jason backed away to let Bobbie and the doctor work as they wheeled her into an exam room.
“Jason! What’s up?” He heard Luke yell from behind him. He turned and saw Luke running down the hall looking a bit disheveled, but Jason chalked it up to the explosion.
“Elizabeth fainted on the docks.”
“Did something hit her on the head?” Luke asked concerned.
“No, but she got quite a shock.” Jason was about to explain further when Laura came running up to them.
“Jason! What are you doing here?”
“I came with Elizabeth…”
“What happened!?” Laura exclaimed.
“Well the man was just about tell me that when you came running up here acting like a mother hen.” Luke shot. Laura rolled her eyes. “Luke I happen to think of that girl as a daughter.”
“Lasha!” A voice called urgently and Laura turned toward the sound to see Stefan running down the hall.
She ran a few steps to him and fell into his embrace. “What on earth happened?” He asked frantically, or at least as frantic as Stefan could get.
He pulled back so he could look at her and gently stroked her face. “Are you all right?”
“I’m fine, I just got a bump on my head.”
Stefan leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “You must have been frightened. I wish I had been there.”
“Somehow, so do I.” Luke commented dryly.
“I really should tell you guys something.” Jason said trying to interrupt.
“Jason I think it can wait until after we see Liz.” Laura said smiling as she walked to where Bobbie was standing.
“Can we see her Bobbie?”
Bobbie nodded. “Sure, she’s just waking up. She just fainted she’s going to be just fine.” She said smiling at Jason.
Before Jason could say anything Luke, Laura, and Stefan rushed into Elizabeth’s room, and he followed.
“Liz honey, are you all right?” Laura said, stroking Elizabeth’s hair softly.
Elizabeth looked up sleepily at the crowd around her. Her brow furrowed as she remembered what had happened. “Where’s Lucky?”
