Said to be created by A. E. Waite, this is one of the most common spreads used in the Tarot world. It may not be one of the most simplest ones, but this is the basic reading spread most diviners use to show their fortune readings. The numbers indicate the order the cards are laid:
- This card represents the present. It shows the energies and other influences affecting the present situation.
- This card shows anything that might influence the present in the near future, like challenges and obstacles.
- This card represents what is below the subject. It represents past events that may have affected or bring about the present situation.
- This card represents the past and what happened in it.
- This card represents what crowns the subject. It indicates current events that may affect the subject's future.
- This card represents the future and what will happen considering the present situation
- This card shows what the one being read fears most, his feelings or attitudes, or his future stance or situation.
- This card shows external influences that may affect the reading, like family and society.
- This card represents the hopes, dreams, and even fear of the one whose fortune is being read.
- This card is the key, which is the result of the readings of all of the other cards combined, summing up everything.
Note that there is a Clow Card (under Sakura Card #1) that is the odd man out amongst the Sakura Cards in the left picture. That card represents the subject of the reading, whether it is the question being asked (depending on the situation), or the person whose being read (depending on his/her personality and sex). This card is optional and most illustrations do not include this card, but most diviners still include it. |
