Chapter 20
GH
Lois smiled as Brooke kept playing with Alexis's hand when the hand grabbed hers and Brooke screamed.
"Her hand is alive!" said Brooke in horror.
Alexis opened her eyes and laughed.
"Got you." said Alexis smiling.
"You're so silly, Lexie." said Brooke smiling.
The two giggled as Lois got up. She picked Brooke up and sat her down in her lap.
"How are ya?" asked Lois.
"Better." said Alexis.
"I heard the news. If you need any tips on motherhood call me." said Lois.
"Thanks." said Alexis smiling.
"I have some news." said Lois.
"What is it?" asked Alexis.
"I'm moving back to Port Charles and I'm going to live in Brenda's cottage." said Lois.
"That's wonderful! I'll be able to visit you two more often." said Alexis.
"When we get settled I'll invite you over for some coffee." said Lois.
"What about me?" asked Ned.
"Should I invite him?" asked Lois smiling.
"Hmm. Only if he's a good little boy then he can come along and play with Brooke." said Alexis smiling.
"You two are plotting against me." said Ned.
"We're just teasing you." said Alexis smiling.
"Guess what, Brookie, you're gonna have a new baby sister to play with." said Lois.
"When?" asked Brooke.
"In six months." said Lois.
"That's a long time." said Brooke.
"I'll be back and no plotting behind my back." said Ned smiling.
He left the room as the two women giggled.
"Mommy, where do babies come from?" asked Brooke.
The two women looked at each other and were surprised by the little girl's question.
"They come from a mommy's tummy." said Lois smiling.
"How do they get in the mommy's tummy?" asked Brooke.
"They grow inside of the mommy." said Alexis smiling.
"How?" asked Brooke.
"When the mommy and daddy decide to have a baby they pray to God to have a baby grow in the mommy's tummy." said Lois.
"Is that what Lexie and daddy did?" asked Brooke.
"Yup, and they prayed for a little girl." said Lois.
"Really?" asked Brooke.
"Yup, your mommy and daddy did the same thing when they wanted to have a baby." said Alexis.
"I was a baby?" asked Brooke in disbelief.
"Yup, and now you're a big girl." said Lois smiling.
"That's cool. I can't wait until she's born. Does she have a name?" asked Brooke.
"Not yet. Do you have a name for her?" asked Alexis.
"Mm-hmm. How about Emma?" offered Brooke.
"I like it, but I'll have to think about it." said Alexis smiling.
"Okay." said Brooke.
Then Brooke went into the bathroom to go potty.
"That was a close one." said Alexis.
"Yeah, thanks for helping me explain." said Lois.
"You're welcome." said Alexis.
Ned walked back into the room with a small paper bag.
"Where's Brooke?" asked Ned.
"In the bathroom." said Lois.
Then they heard the toilet flush and Brooke came out shutting the door behind her.
"Come on, Brookie, it's time to go." said Lois.
"Okay, but let me say bye-byes." said Brooke.
"Go ahead." said Lois.
She put her arms up for her dad to pick her up. He picked her up and hugged her as she hugged him back.
"I love you." said Ned.
"I love you too, daddy." said Brooke.
He put her on the chair next to Alexis's bed and she hugged her.
"Get well, Lexie." said Brooke.
"I will." said Alexis.
"Take care of my sister." said Brooke.
"I will." said Alexis.
"I love you, Lexie." said Brooke.
"I love you too." said Alexis smiling.
Then Lois picked up Brooke and hugged her.
"I hope you get better soon." said Lois.
"I will so I can come over for some coffee." said Alexis smiling.
"Bye." said Lois.
"Bye." said Alexis.
Brooke waved as Lois carried her out of the room. Ned smiled at Alexis.
"You'll be a great mother. I've got a gift for you." said Ned smiling.
"What is it?" asked Alexis.
"Close your eyes." he said smiling.
"Should I be afraid?" she asked smiling.
"Just close them." he said smiling.
She closed her eyes and he gave her the small paper bag.
"Okay, open them." he said.
She opened her eyes and looked inside the bag. It was a book full of baby names and she smiled.
"Thank you so much, Ned." she said smiling.
"Anything for you." he said smiling.
He hugged her and a soft moan of pain escaped her lips.
"Sorry." he said.
"I'm fine, it's just that you have such strong arms." she said.
He grinned and then he kissed her.
"Brooke had a suggestion." she said.
"What was it?" he asked.
"Emma." she said.
"I like it, but I think we should look at all the names before we decide." he said.
"That's fine with me, but you missed something." she said.
"What?" he asked.
"Lois and I had to explain to your daughter where babies come from." she said smiling.
"What did you tell her?" he asked.
"We told her that a mommy and daddy pray to God for a baby. Then the baby grows inside of the mommy's tummy." she said smiling.
"I wish I was here to see that." he said smiling.
He sat down and took her hand. He kissed her hand and smiled.
"You're wonderful." he said.
She smiled and blushed as she opened up the baby book.
