Updates on the Set of "The Michael Richard's Show"
This is an article I found in my hometown newspaper, The Indianapolis Star. This is the section in the article where they talked about the current changes to this show and how they think the show will do.
When The Michael Richards Show finally debuts next week (8 p.m. Tuesday, WTHR ), you'll see what was supposed to be the second episode of the season. The network decided it was better than the first.
The first, of course, was not the first. In the original pilot, called Bump on the copy I have, Richards plays a bumbling private investigator who leaves an agency to work on his own. His ads in the Val-Pack don't work, so he goes to see the head of a high-powered detective agency and steals one of his cases.
The show had its moments, but it left Richards to handle nearly the entire load. He was in every scene and virtually every frame. The show also was shot with a single camera, as opposed to the four-camera method usually favored for sitcoms, which required longer days for production.
"I wasn't able to put the time I need to develop physical comedy to its max the way I wanted to develop it," Richards told TV critics in July.
In the revamped version, Richards is still a bumbling detective, but now he's surrounded by a cast that includes William Devane, Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows and the great character actor Bill Cobbs. He's also more physical and goofy, much like his Cosmo Kramer character from Seinfeld.
The problem, though, is that the laughs were more prevalent in the original than they are in the version you'll see.
Next week's premiere wasn't available for preview, but the second episode was. It's a clunker. Richards tries too hard to be a combination of Groucho Marx and Inspector Clouseau, the supporting cast doesn't add much, and the main story -- investigating an 80-year-old corporate CEO suspected of drug use -- just isn't that funny.
This was a case where change did more harm than good. Call this a loss.

The Michael Richards Show
I'm sure you've all seen the commercials, but here is a little info on what the show will be like!
Michael Richards (Seinfeld), master of physical comedy, stars as a former security patrolman who tries to start his own detective agency in a charmingly quirky and totally fresh new series.
Vic Nardozza (Richards) is on a quest for flexible hours, better pay and real respect. With his background in security, a six-week PI course and a gung-ho attitude, he's on his way to becoming a premier gumshoe. With a little help from his friends and the determination of a bulldog, Vic will solve his first assignment...sort of. Turns out it wasn't really his to begin with, but the big-time detective he stole it from takes notice and offers to enlist him in the future. Vic may not crack every case, but he refuses to go down without a fight!

Jerry Seinfeld to be a Father
NEW YORK -- He became famous playing a single guy who's too neurotic and fastidious to settle on one woman. But Jerry Seinfeld apparently wanted more. He got it, too.
Ever since Jerry Seinfeld ended his self-titled sitcom in May 1998, the comedian has embraced a conventional life. He found a new girlfriend in the fall of that year. He married her at the end of '99. In March, it was reported that the couple was buying a mansion on Long Island.
And now this: The comedian and his wife, Jessica Sklar, are expecting their first child. Seinfeld pal Regis Philbin made the big announcement Thursday on TV's "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee."
"Yes. It's true. There will be a new little Seinfeld sometime this fall," confirmed Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clarke.
Seinfeld apparently asked Philbin to serve up the news for him. Philbin did it gladly, informing viewers that the baby is scheduled to arrive in October. Clarke did not want to pinpoint the due date.
The baby, whenever it arrives, will have plenty of room to romp around. Seinfeld, 45, is reportedly paying up to $40 million for a 12-acre estate in East Hampton. It belonged to pop singer Billy Joel.
Seinfeld likely will turn his paternal experience into fertilizer for a new crop of jokes. For nine years, the NBC sitcom "Seinfeld" was an outlet he used to address his single-guy experiences (for instance, the "master of your domain" episode). It helped transform the sitcom into one of the defining media experiences of the '90s.
But this is the year 2000. New things are in store for the world -- and, for Papa Seinfeld, too.
Do the parents-to-be have any names in mind? "Regis" would be a good name if the child is a boy, Philbin joked. Other possibilities: Kramer? George?

Jerry Got Married!
Jerry Seinfeld and his fiancée Jessica Sklar tied the knot over the Christmas holiday, six weeks after he popped the question to his on-again, off-again girlfriend. The 45-year-old comedian and his 28-year-old public relations executive bride exchanged vows Saturday in a quiet ceremony attended by close friends and family, the New York Daily News revealed in its Sunday edition.
A rabbi officiated at the ceremony, although the wedding reception was obviously not kosher —crabmeat hors d'oeuvres, lamb, and chocolate cake with white frosting, were served, according to the Daily News.
Comedian Mario Joyner told the Daily News, "It was very funny and very beautiful, and they're obviously both very in love," after the party broke up early on Sunday.
"I'm thrilled for him," the New York paper quoted Seinfeld's childhood friend Chris Misiano as saying. "I think it's a great thing."
The couple wrote their own vows for the ceremony. Seinfeld wore a dark tuxedo and bow tie. Sklar wore an empire-waisted ivory slip dress with spaghetti straps, designed by her boss, Tommy Hilfiger.
During the nine-year run of his NBC sitcom Seinfeld, Jerry's New York bachelor always managed to find a fatal flaw in his girlfriends, and avoid making the leap to matrimony. In real life, Seinfeld also avoided marriage, thereby delighting many a gossip columnist. His five-year romance with Shoshanna Lonstein, who was 16 when the relationship began, was a tabloid favorite, and there were reports Seinfeld was also dating married television writer Jennifer Crittenden.
Seinfeld's private life was fodder for gossip columnists again when he was spotted last summer spending time with Sklar in an Upper West Side gym. Sklar was just back from a three-week Italian honeymoon with her then-husband, Broadway producer Eric Nederlander. The couple divorced shortly after.
No word on where the Seinfelds plan to spend their honeymoon, although we're going to guess it won't be Italy again. The Daily News reported they plan to settle down in Seinfeld's $6 million apartment on New York's Central Park West.
As for the long-term outlook for their relationship, long-time Seinfeld friend Cliff Singer, who is also a therapist, was optimistic. He told the Daily News, "They play well together. She's not demanding." He added that the couple wants children.
After the engagement announcement, a source close to Sklar earlier told the New York Post, "She's been going around telling her friends she's going to get pregnant right away."

Seinfeld Spin Off! Well Seinfeld Fans, the moment has arrived, there is officially going to be a Seinfeld Spin-Off! "The Jackie Child's Show" is one of the new shows that NBC has in development. So far none of former "Seinfeld" writers or producers have been involved in the new show. But, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David have given it their OK to make the show. Yet this far, no one has yet to be hired for the production of the show. The show was given the OK to fit NBC sramble to find more shows with African American writers.
Of course, the same Jackie Child's from the Seinfeld show will be playing the character in the spin off. The plot will focus around Jackie who is a part of and all white law firm, then the sparks will start to fly. Thats all for this time, we will keep you up to date with the new show. |

The SeinBoys Continue to Expand... Over the last week, we have been working like heck to complete our site with all the features we had planned on. First of all, we completley re-arranged the web design for our main page. It is now in the frames format, making our page easier to view. We last reported that our sounds were up and running, but now they are organized and easier to navigate. We also added various versions of the Seinfeld theme. All of these sounds can be heard in the Sounds Section. We have begun our Picture Section, which has about 20-30 pics in it now, but should have nearly twice as much in the coming week. Also, we have started to create our Trivia page, and our Biography page, which will be completed soon. We apologize for no Seinfeld updates, but we need to get our site fully operational first...which will be very soon. When we have time to focus on news, we will update you on things like upcoming re runs, upcoming projects(tv, movie, commercial) for the Seinfeld characters, and anything relating to the show. So check back soon! |

A Big Site Update! We have made a huge update in our sound section. We have all of our sounds categorized by character. For each of the four main characters, (Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer) we have 10-20 sounds. In all, we will have more than 50 sounds! We will also have a section dedicated to Mr. Mandlebaum, who is our favorite minor character. It will have sounds, pictures, and a biography of Lloyd Bridges, who played Mandlebaum. That is all for now, but expect other sections to be up and running soon! |

Seinfeld CD "I'm telling you for the last time" Well, not really much news, but I did pick up the Seinfeld cd yesterday. It's a must have. It's the funniest thing I've ever heard, next to the show itself of course. This is partially because I was one of the unfortunate ones to miss Jerry's HBO special, and that's exactly what this tape is. So my advice to all of you, as is the case with most anything Seinfeld, is to buy it. Also, I should be getting that two hours of never before seen Seinfeld tape soon and I will give my opinion on it as soon as I do.

Seinfeld Comeback?!? Ok, I'll start off with news that if its true could make a lot of our lives better. One of my many sources tells me that NBC has offered Jerry Seinfeld 3 million dollars to put Seinfeld back on the air and that, get this, Jerry is thinking about it. This could mean that we could have new episodes of our favorite show in the near future. I for one am very excited about the very possibility of this story being true. NBC supposedly said that its ratings are suffering and they desperately need Seinfeld back, however I could have told you that without looking at any Nielson ratings and whatnot.
And now here's a reason that Jerry might want to put Seinfeld back on the air: he could need the money. Mike Costanza is sueing Jerry and the rest of Seinfeld's producers for using his persona to create the fictional character George Costanza. Castle Rock Entertainment claims that George is based purely on Larry David, who has never even met Costanza, and that they can't believe such a suit is being made. I for one think its funny that he waited nine years to say anything about this. Also, he already cashed in on Seinfeld for writing a book, unfortunately I haven't read it so I can't comment there. One more thing to think about, if Costanza wins the lawsuit, which is unlikely, could this possibly hinder the Seinfeld comeback I reported on earlier. If he won, would they no longer be able to use the character George Costanza? This is an important question to answer, and frankly I hope the answer is a solid no. |
