Callisto: Warrior Queen (cont.)
After attaining Godhood, Xena immediately severed the ropes apon which Callisto was standing, causing theWarrior Queen and Velasca to plummet into the lava pit below. This was supposed to hole Callisto for eternity. That is until Callisto was freed from her molten imprisonment by none other than Gabrielle's daughter, Hope. The two succeed in causing mayhem and murdering Xena's son Solan. But the joy Callisto thought she would reciebve from the death of Xena's son brought her no salvation. Confronting Xena, she proclaimed Xena had "won." However, an enraged Warrior Princess attacked Callisto and trapped her in bouldery confinement, hwere she was once again commisioned by Hope to rid the world of another hero: Hercules.
This time, Callisto wanted no part in Hope's scheme, but Hope promised her an oppurtunity to travel back in time to save her family from death. Callisto teamed up with Ares and opened the portal into the alternate reality to free the evil Hercules a.k.a. Soverign and take his stash of Hind's blood, which kills a god. Int he process, Callisto and Ares trapped the Soviergn, as well as Hercules, in between the two realities. Once Callisto got a hold of the stash, she killed Ares's nephew, Stryfe, and defeated Ares. Hope then sent her back in time in order to kill Alcmene, Hercules's mother, before he was born. Iolaus, Hercules's sidekick, convinced Ares to send him back to the past to stop her. Callisto succeeded in killing Hercules's mother and went forward to prevent her family's masacre in Sirra.
Callisto attempted to save her family, but hey were cautious of strangers and shunned her aid. Then, when she found her mother and herself hiding in a barn, she tried again to tell them to leave. Her father barged in ang mistaking him for an intruder, Callisto scorched him with a fire bolt. Realizing what she had done, Callisto scorched her mother as well right before her past self's eyes. However, Iolaus got a hold of the Chronos Stone, traveled back in time, and saved Alcmene. Hercules got free, and the death of Callisto's parents at her hands never happened. So, Hercules re-matched with Callisto and trapped her in the nether-realm.
Callisto escaped the nether-realm and found Hope in a cocoon. Knowing that Hope could help her, after losing the lust for life, achieve oblivion, Callisto helped Hope to emerge from her cocoon. After learning that Ares and Hope were working together, Callisto left hem and pursued Xena's help. They struck a deal: Callisto would help Xena destroy Hope, and Xena would kill Callisto with the Hind's blood dagger. Xena agreed with intentions of never really stabbing Callisto, for she liked the idea of Callisto living with her guilt. Callisto helped in defeating Hope, and when Gabrielle plunged into the abyss, Callisto saw the anguish on Xena's face. It brought her the salvation she had always wanted from seeing Xena suffer, and it gave her a new reason to live. Xena acknowledged this and stabbed the Warrior Queen causing her, what was believed to be, death.
But Callisto was not let off the hook that easy, she was sent to a place much worse than Tartarus. She was sent to Hell. However, the devil sent her back to earth with the goal of ensuring Caesar's reign as emperor. She was not to interfere physically. When Xena went to Rome to assissinate Caesar, her killing chakram throw was caught by Callisto. Callisto informed Xena that Gabrielle was captured and Xena set out to save her. After Xena reached the prison where Gabrielle was being held, Callisto confronted her once again, and attempted to tempt Xena from her "way." But he warrior princess refused and callisto caused the gaurds to attack Xena. Xena battled the guards and was succeeding, when, out of frustration, Callisto delivered a spine-shattering chakram blow to Xena. Later, Callisto watched as Xena was crucified, not realizing that her mission of Caesar was foiled by his assissination by the senators. what will become of Callisto? All is known is that she failed her two objectives on her mission, warranting major punishment. But, we all knpw the Warrior Queen has always been able to handle what fate has dealt her.
