David Tom
Biography

David was born March 23, 1978 in Hinsdale, Illinois. David, along with his two talented siblings, Heather and Nicholle, began his career doing print work and commercials at the early age of eight. The Tom family would then move to Seattle, Washington where David and his sisters would continue to work, doing small parts and commercials.

The taste of local success hit David and his family hard, encouraging them to try their luck in Hollywood. David, Heather, Nicholle and mom, Marie packed up their stuff and made a trial move to Los Angeles to see if their lucky streak would continue. Luck, TALENT, and lots of hard work would keep the Tom's in L.A. as the kids started working almost instantly.

David started taking acting lessons at Young Actors Space, learning and growing more and more as an actor. David began auditioning for L.A. Casting Directors and quickly booked a series regular role on NBC-TV's short-lived family series A Brand New Life which also starred Barbara Eden and Jennie Garth. David next moved on to star in Nickelodeon's summer camp comedy series Salute Your Shorts. David really enjoyed doing television work and would continue with series regular roles on the ABC-TV pilots Buddies in 1994 and World's Apart in 1995. During this time, David had a heavy re-curring role CBS-TV's Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. David has also guest starred on some of televisions hottest shows including: Just the Ten of Us, Get A Life, Quantum Leap, Sister Sister, 3rd Rock From the Sun and most recently, Aaron Spelling's new series Rescue 77 and Party of Five.

Although David has spent much time doing television, he has also starred in many made for TV movies and Feature Films. His first M.O.W. was the ABC-TV drama A Place to be Loved about a family who adopts a young boy in need of love. David had a lot of fun playing a stuck-up snob in the ABC-TV comedy Summertime Switch. David's most recent M.O.W. credits include Holy Joe, where he played the son of minister John Ritter, and the much talked about NBC drama The 60's.

It may seem like an actor as busy as David might not have the time to do anymore than he already has. Besides all of his T.V. work, David has managed to pile up an impressive list of Feature Film credits as well. David got his start in features starring in Plain Clothes and Lessie's Rainbow. David's first big feature was a horror flick called Stepfather 3, where David played a wheelchair bound youngster trying to save his family from an evil stepfather. David's next feature, Stay Tuned was a lot of fun as David played a son whose parents (Pam Dawber and John Ritter) are literally sucked into the television. In Swing Kids, David starred as Willie, the younger brother of Robert Sean Leonard. David has the last scene in the film and definitely grabs the audience for a tear-jerking finale! After Swing Kids, David went on to star in Roommates, also starring Peter Falk. Most recently, David had the pivotal role of Whitey in last years box office smash Pleasantville.

David is overjoyed to join sister Heather on CBS-TV's hit soap, The Young and the Restless. David joined the soap in June 1999 playing the role of Billy Abbott. With tons of T.V., Film and M.O.W. credits under his belt, David is excited to jump into the world of Soaps and is looking forward to the next three years on the show! David will continue to work in all genres of acting, balancing the show and other projects.

In his free time, David loves spending time with his family (older sister Heather is a Two-time Emmy Award Winning actress and twin sister Nicholle is known for her role as Maggie Sheffield on CBS's The Nanny) and friends. David is also an extremely talented drummer and devotes much of his free time to his band, The Tuxedos, which has gained local success. He is also an active member of Achilles Heel, an improvisational group of friends and fellow actors that performs locally.

At the age of only 21, David has worked more than many actors do in their lifetime. His dedication, talent and hard work are sure to make David Tom one of his generations most celebrated performers.
