Calling the Show10/26/98 | ![]() |
So I arrived and he broke out his N64. He only had WCW vs. NWO but we still got in a thick competitive mode. I was really on the ball that night and I beat him on many an occasion. He was pretty pissed. By this time I realized I better call home and tell them I’m okay and to see if it was cool if I stayed over. My parents were kind of in a bad mood and tried to say I couldn’t cause my room wasn’t clean but I begged them until they finally agreed on the condition I do it right away when I got home.
Dennis’s Mom went out to get us some pop and chips for the evening to come. First we popped in one of Dennis’s X-files tapes and fast-forwarded to the Scully parts. Oh Gillian Anderson, I dream of your naked body often. Soon it was time for the highlight of our party, YRU-Up.
I am quite the fan of the program and I couldn’t wait to flex my humor when I called in. I can do this funny voice that Dennis thinks is beyond great. I figured it would be a cool thing to use this week. The show began like usual and I called pretty much right away. It was kind of hard to get though but when I did I told them my name was Dennis. Dennis was pissed at first but I told him to take a chill pill. It wasn’t like they’d know it was him. Anyway, I was on hold for a really long time.
Then I finally got on. Once again I kind of panicked and I kind of forgot all the funny stuff I was gonna say. I still did my voice though. Dennis and I thought it was pretty funny. It was all kind of a blur of excitement let me tell you. I then figured it would be pretty cool if I swore a bunch. I knew they’d hang up on my pretty quick but they sure would be pissed and Dennis would think I was pretty cool.
Well, I proceeded to call them assho*. That’s when they hung up on my. I was saddened that I didn’t even get the whole thing out. Dennis fell silent and the shame in the room was almost palpable. If I weren’t that much of a man I would have cried on the spot. It was a dark day for me, I must say. But there would be another day. After that Dennis said he was tired and said he had to get up in the morning for his Baritone lesson. So we got out the old sleeping bags and turned out the lights. Dennis went to sleep fast but I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. I knew that one day I’d get my revenge. Well, that’s all for now folks. Thanks for reading.
