Born July 31, 1966 in Mt. Clemens, MI, DEAN CAIN grew up in Malibu, CA, and he was named top athlete at Santa Monica High School and then at Princeton University. After graduation he joined the Buffalo Bills as a free agent, but a knee injury quickly forced him to retire the same year.

With encouragement from his father, director Christopher Cain ("Young Guns", "Next Karate Kid", "Gone Fishin'"), he decided to pursue a screenwriting career and began by working on scripts for his father. In order to support himself Dean appeared in several commercials over a four year period, guest starred on several TV series ("Life Goes On", "A Different World", "Grapevine") and got small supporting roles in several films ("Dive", "With Deadly Intent", "Summer Rain", "Miracle Beach"). He has also appeared in the feature film "The Stone Boy", directed by his father.

He is best known for his role in "Beverly Hills 90210" as Rick, the student that Brenda meets and falls in love with while on Summer vacation in Paris.

When Dean's agent first told him about
"LOIS & CLARK", he had no interest in the part until he read the script for the Pilot. He auditioned a total of four times before winning the role of CLARK KENT/SUPERMAN, but never with Teri Hatcher, so the famous screen chemistry was not discovered until after the pair were hired.

Dean wrote, directed and produced the ABC special "Off Camera With Dean Cain", which features the hobbies and pastimes of TV Stars, and has written 2 episodes of L&C:
"Season's Greedings" and "Virtually Destroyed".

During his last hiatus he filmed
"Best Men" (formerly "Independence") alongside Drew Barrymore. Dean describes it as "Dog Day Afternoon" meets "Dinner".

Afterwards he signed to star in Anne Rice TV drama
"Rag & Bone" as a fomer priest turned cop. Nevertheless, CBS recently nixed it as a series and it might end up as a standalone TV movie.

More recently, he filmed
"Futuresport", a TV 2 hour also starring Wesley Snipes and Vanessa Williams.

Dean and country singer Mindy McCready, who were to wed last year, called off the engagement.
