Born Dec. 8, 1964 in Sunnyvale, CA, TERI LYNN HATCHER
grew up an only child in the San Francisco area. She began studying acting at the
American Conservatory Theatre while pursuing an undergraduate degree in mathematics
and engineering. As a favor to a friend who needed moral support, she attended an
open casting call for a part as a dancer on "The Love Boat" and
won it herself.
Her motion-picture debut was as a sexy, self-absorbed starlet in Christopher Guest's
Hollywood satire, "The Big Picture". She followed that with a dramatic
role as Sylvester Stallone's sister in the actioner "Tango & Cash",
also starring Kurt Russell. She then returned to comedy with Sally Field, Kevin Kline,
Whoopi Goldberg and Robert Downey, Jr. in "Soapdish". She went on
to play opposite Dolly Parton and James Woods in "Straight Talk",
and also appeared in a cameo in "Dead Girl", starring Val Kilmer.
In the erotic thriller, "Heaven's Prisoners", which also starred
Alec Baldwin, Eric Roberts, Mary Stuart Masterson and Kelly Lynch, she was the manipulative
and seductive Cajun wife of a local crime boss.
"2 Days in the Valley" is a contemporary drama in which she plays
a vindictive former Olympic skier plotting to murder her philandering ex-husband.
Also starring James Spader, Jeff Daniels, Danny Aiello and Eric Stoltz.
Afterwards Teri completed production in David Schwimmer's directorial debut "Since
You've Been Gone" (formerly "Dogwater"). The ensemble comedy,
also starring Schwimmer , Lara Flynn Boyle, Jon Stewart and Joey Slotnick, is about
an eventful 10-year high school reunion.
Teri has also starred in Norman Lear's semi-autobiographical television series, "Sunday
Dinner", and has guest starred on such popular series as "Night
Court", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "Tales
from the Crypt", "Quantum Leap", "L.A. Law",
"Murphy Brown", "Seinfeld" and, most recently,
"Frasier". In addition, she hosted an episode of NBC's "Saturday
Night Live".
Teri took her part in "LOIS
& CLARK" based on the
original version of LOIS LANE as seen in the Pilot
and early first season episodes aimed at an adult audience. Nevertheless she became
disappointed with the subsequent changes made to the series and her role which were
very different from what she originally signed up for. She never auditioned with
Dean Cain, so their hot on-screen chemistry was discovered
later.
Teri made her debut as a screenwriter with the third season's episode of L&C
entitled "It's
A Small World After All". She
came up with the story idea and co-wrote the episode with her friend Pat Hazell about
Lois' high school reunion and the revenge tactics of a former classmate.
Immediately following L&C's fourth season wrap, Teri went to London to play villain's
wife in the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies", starring Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh.
Married May 1994, Teri and actor Jon Tenney --seen on 2 episodes of L&C:
"Through
A Glass, Darkly" and "Big Girls Don't
Fly"-- had their first child
on Nov. 10, 1997, a baby girl they named Emerson Rose.
