New Frontier period B Year One: *Former Starfleet officer Mackenzie Calhoun, hero of the Xenex rebellion, is assigned to captain the Starship Excalibur* on its mission to patrol the disintegrating Thallonion Empire.**

Into the Void David, Peter Pocket, 1997 NF #2	Excalibur departs for its mission to Thallonion space with a diverse crew, including Mackenzie's new first officer and ex-fiance Elizabeth Shelby, and stowawy Si Cwan, a prince of Thallon who escaped the massacre of his family and is still searching for his missing younger sister.
The Two-Front War David, Peter Pocket, 1997 NF #3	Mackenzie mistrusts the motives behind the offer of the inhabitants of the planet Nelkar to offer sanctuary to a group of refugees, while Prince Si Cwan and Security Chief Zak Kebron are captured by Thallonian rebels.
End Game David, Peter Pocket, 1997 NF #4	Mackenzie has a bitter encounter with his once beloved older brother, who has betrayed their native world of Xenex for monetary gain, and is forced to duel with the son of an enemy he killed as a youthful freedom fighter.
Martyr David, Peter Pocket, 1998 NF #5	When his exploits seen to be the fulfillment of an alien prophecy, Mackenzie is first worshipped as a savior, then kidnapped to be sacrificed as a martyr in order to complete the prophecy. see also: NF period A
Fire on High David, Peter Pocket, 1998 NF #6	Mackenzie and the Excalibur are called upon to disarm a deranged woman who possesses, and uses, a weapon capable of destroying entire planets.

New Frontier period C Year Two: The Dominion War consumes Starfleet's attention, relegating Thallonian space to backwater status.

Chafing at being relegated to the backwater of Thallonian space while the Dominion War rages, Mackenzie is astonished to discover the mystical bar the Captain's Table in a holodeck simulation.
