theme thrown in for good measure). With over 50 fun TV and soccer

here! Be sure you visit the rest of the website before leaving

out there!), based on the classic ITV sitcom about a bus driver from Wood Green,
London, - On the Buses.
Created by the two Ronnie's, no not Corbett and Barker but Wolfe and Cheney and like their earlier sitcom hit, The Rag Trade, On the Buses was a workplace sitcom of the cheerfully lowbrow humour. The setting was the Luxton Bus Company, ruled over by the black-hearted Inspector Blakey (played by Stephen Lewis), tormentor of bus driver Stan Butler (Reg Varney) and his work mate, bus conductor Jack (Bob Grant). Stan lives with his Mum, Mrs. Butler (played by Cicely Courtneidge and latterly Doris Hare ); his plain sister Olive (played by former stripper Anna Karen, later Piggy Mitchell's sister in soap Eastenders) and idle brother-in-law Arthur (Michael Robbins). Stories centered on Stan and Jack's labour-management battles with dim-witted Blakey (catchphrases included "I 'ate you Butler", "I'll get you for this Butler" and "Oh that's made my day that has") and the lads attempts to woo the clippies (conductresses) at he depot. A Bus Depot at Wood Green, London was used for the external shots.
The show appeared on British television between the years 1970-75 and a total of 70, 30min episodes were produced. For many it's gorblimy laughs were just the ticket and it rode to the top of the BARB ratings in 1970, 1971 and 1972. Three movies based on the show were released in the cinema. On the Buses (the highest earning British Film of 1971), Mutiny on the Buses and Holiday on the Buses. None of them were worth the fare! The show's format was sold to America as Lotsa Luck.
