Wesley walked up beside her, his arms full of boxes, one partially covering his line of sight. "That would be Eucalyptus. That plant over there-" He attempted to point, only to have the box on top topple off, forcing Cordy to catch it. "Is what smells. It's actually a good plant to have."
"And you couldn't have just said 'The plant in the corner is Eucalyptus?" Cordy said, walking with the extremely light box down the hall. The walls were white, and smelled newly painted. She was amazed that she had found an apartment so fast. Well... not really amazed since Sunnydlae has that high mortallity rate... but because it was actually a nice place.
She opened the door to her apartment and set the box down on the endtable that was to the right of her door. She walked in and collapsed on the couch. "Who knew moving could be so exhausting?"
A sweaty Gunn walked in, carrying more than his share of boxes and bags. "Where do you want these master?"
"Oh. Those are my shoes. They can go in the bedroom." Gunn was about to walk off when she saw he only had 3 boxes. "HEY! Where did the rest of them go?"
"You mean there's more shoes?" Gunn said over his shoulder as he entered her bedroom.
Cordy made a face to his back and layed her head back. She was not impressed at all. Wesley and Gunn were still staying in LA so she would have no one to talk to. She no longer had Dennis to help her and she really really didn't want to run into anyone she knew in high school. It would be mortifying to see someone she used to be friends with driving around in their new sports car when she didn't even have enough money for a taxi.
She's even being forced to walk around town. And find a job. Now she'd only have one thing she considered a job... when she worked at "April Fools". So without money she'd be forced to get a job. *Again I reiterate... this SUCKS!*
She waved goodbye out of her window as Gunn and Wesley started back home to L.A.. She was suprised to find that she was sad to seem them go. This meant that she was alone now. Utterly alone. Alone to find a job, to walk around the city, and alone to deal with all the bad things that were coming her way.
Such as the vision she was about to have.
She dropped to her knees and screamed in terror and she images flooded her brain. She saw a young girl with dark hair. Someone called her Dawn. She was being dragged from a house by a group of vampires. It looked bad. The girl was crying like she knew something bad was happening and this was the end.
Not if Cordy could help it. She looked up and yelled. "Dennis! Phone!". She waited for the phone to come to her bu her unnatural friend... but it never did. She was going to have to get used to not having him around. And it scared her.
She weakly rose to her feet and balanced herself. She looked around and grabbed her purse and jogged to the door. She was going to help this girl.. there was no one else could could.
She ran out of her apartment, slamming the door shut behind her. She ran down the hallway and skidded around the corner... and straight into someone with an arm full of groceries. They both screamed and fell, sending the bag into the air. All the contents spilled out and oranges went flying everywhere.
Cordy grabbed her head, still aching from her vision and now from the impact. She looked up to find the guy she had hit still on the ground. She stood and walked over to him. The paper sack in which he had had all of his groceries in was covering his face. She heard him groan. She knew that groan. That was the groan of...
No. It couldn't be. He couldn't live in this nice of a place. I mean... he's poor... and not cool.... and she lived here now.
"Are you ok?" She asked, looking down at him.
"I guess. If you can call this splitting headache ok.." He said, pulling the bag off of him. She stood up, his face looking down, assessing the damage done to him. When he was convinced he would live he looked up... and into the face of someone he thought he would never see again.
"Cordy?" Xander said, looking into the face of the person he knew.. or once knew.
"Oh. Dear. God."
