Peter Frechette

On "Profiler," Peter Frechette plays a computer hacker who works for an elite crime task force, and the actor says the role inspired him to join the computer age. "George is kind of a cyber-freak who is dedicated to his work," says Frechette. "I’m passionate about my job, but I wasn’t into computers until I did the pilot."

Frechette was born and raised in Coventry, Rhode Island, the youngest of five kids. His late father was an efficiency expert, and his mother is a retired nurse. Frechette earned a B.F.A. in theater from the University of Rhode Island and then moved to New York, where he performed for two years in off-Broadway plays.

In 1982 he went to Los Angeles for a co-starring role in "Grease 2," but he made frequent trips back to New York for stage and TV work. In 1988 he returned to Manhattan full-time to co-star on Broadway in "Eastern Standard," and he earned a Tony Award nomination for his work. He also earned a Tony nomination for his performance in "Our Country’s Good." Among his other stage credits are "Raised in Captivity," "Night and Her Stars," "The Play’s the Thing," "The Destiny of Me," and his most recent play, "Hurrah at Last," at the South Coast Repertory Co.

On television Frechette was a regular on the series "Dream Street" and "Matt Waters." In 1990 he guest-starred as a gay man in a controversial episode of "thirtysomething," earning an Emmy nomination for his performance. He also guest-starred on "Picket Fences," "Cagney & Lacey," "New York News," "The Burning Zone," as well as NBC’s "Law & Order" and "L.A. Law." His TV movies include "Against Her Will: The Carrie Buck Story," "Barbarians at the Gate" and "Chasing the Dragon."

Frechette’s feature films are "The First Wives Club," "Milk and Money," "Paint It Black," "No Small Affair," "The Kindred," "The Unholy" and "Somewhere Between Nowhere."

In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, working out, and going to movies and improvisational-comedy clubs. Frechette lives in the Hollywood Hills. His birthday is October 3.
