Edward is Thomas' friend; they work together on the island of Sodor.
Edward is Engine number 2, and, like Thomas, his colour is Blue. He is an older engine and he's very kind to everyone.
He always helps the little engines who run into difficulties. He's kind to big engines too. He is also kind to coaches.
The Fat Controller always turns to Edward when the other engines are misbehaving. He is sure to calm the engines down and get everything back to normal.
Edward shares his shed with five other engines. They are:
