Olivia and Gregory have to be the most tortured romance on Sunset Beach. Their relationship has had more ups and downs than any other on the show. When Sunset Beach first aired, they were bearly on speaking terms. Olivia had a drinking problem and her husband hardly spoke two words to her. Olivia was also having an affair with Del Douglas (Annie's father). He was murdered and then left everything he owned to Olivia. Olivia also has a major secret, that someday could ruin her: She slept with Cole Deschanel (her daughters then boyfriend, now husband). Nobody, but Cole, Olivia and Annie (who uses it as blackmail) know the affair happened. But it's sure to come out...and soon! Through time Gregory and Olivia started to reconcile. They found their love for each other was too much to ignore and they finally began a loving marriage. Olivia then became pregnant... but who was the father? Cole or Gregory? To this day, we still don't know who the father is.
Gregory and Olivia's happiness was not destined to last. Along comes Annie Douglas out to ruin their marriage because of a stipulation in her father's will. If Annie married Gregory by the end of June 98 she would inherit shares in the Liberty Corp (lots o' money). So she set out to destroy the marriage...and she succeeded. To make a looooong story short. She managed to kidnap Olivia's baby at birth and hired a doctor to tell her that her baby died. She gave the baby to Caitlin (Olivia's daughter) to raise (see...Cole & Caitlin's page for more on that side of the story). Gregory blamed Olivia for their baby's death and they became estranged. Olivia left town to find herself again and ran into an old lover: AJ Deschanel. Gregory, back at home, sought comfort in the arms of the enemy, Annie Douglas. Olivia returned to town with AJ in tow and was determined to learn the truth about her baby. She discovered her husband was sleeping with her nemesis Annie, so she divorced him. Finally, Annie managed to get Gregory to marry her and she received her inheritance.
Olivia finally remembered that Annie kidnapped her baby and confronted her. Annie revealed to Olivia that Caitlin was raising Olivia's son. Olivia was devasted. Could she take away the one thing her daughter loved most in the world? It wouldn't be up to Olivia. As fate would have it, Gregory found out about the entire Trey mess. He learned about Olivia and Cole's affair and he also made sure that a paternity tests for Trey was done to prove Gregory was the father (which Annie messed with). Now that Gregory knew the truth, the lies came tumbling down one by one. First Caitlin confessed to Cole the entire Trey ordeal. Then Francesca told Caitlin (before Francesca was killed) that Olivia and Cole had an affair. Needless to say, lives have been ruined by deceit - especially by the biggest bombshell of all: Gregory is the real killer! He killed Francesca Vargas to protect Caitlin! After Gregory's confession, he went crazy and kidnapped Caitlin hoping she and Trey would flee the country with him. Caitlin refused and Cole came to the rescue. Cole and Gregory got into a fist fight on top of the lifeguard tower and fell off into the icy cold water! Cole survived, but Gregory never surfaced. The real question now is: Is Gregory dead? That answer would be no! Come on, did you really think they could get rid of big bad Gregory that easy? Currently Gregory is incognito - everyone thinks he's dead. Cole and Caitlin are reuniting and Olivia and Annie are both trying to take over Gregory's estate. Will Caitlin and Cole's relationship survive the lies? Will Gregory rear his evil soon and when he does what evil plot will be have in the works? All that and more coming soon to Sunset Central!
