Ch. 42 "Did you say divorced?" "Yeah. She served him with papers this morning. Listen, Robin I was thinking that maybe you could help me convince Jagger to move back to Port Charles?" "Really? Well, I guess yeah, sure. I mean Stone would probably really like that." "Robin what's the matter?" "Nothing, why?" "Well, I thought you of all people would want Jagger back in town, but you certainly aren't acting like it." "Listen, I'm just tired that's all. Of course I want Jagger back in Port Charles." "Good. Now why don't you go to bed and I'll call you in the morning." "Night." Robin hung up the phone. Sonny is not going to like this at all. ~~~~~~~~~ Brenda shut off the light and smiled at the thought of having Jagger back in Port Charles. He was a good friend and she could really use his support right now. ~~~~~~~~~ Jagger sat up most of the night crying and thinking. About his marriage, his brother, and where his life was headed. Brenda woke up and glanced at the clock, it was 3 in the morning, but she was hungry. She put on a robe and went downstairs. "Jagger?" "Hey, Brenda, did I wake you?" "No. I was hungry. It happens all the time being pregnant. What's the matter?" "Actually? Nothing. I've just been sitting here and I've made some choices. I'm going back to Port Charles to be with Mike and with my friends." Ch 43 "Is that everything?" Brenda asked as she watched Jagger put a box into the moving truck. "Yup. All my stuff at least. Karen’s coming to get the rest of hers later today after we leave." "I can’t believe this happened to the two of you." "Neither can I. Neither can Stone." "Took it pretty hard, didn’t he?" "Not any harder than I did." "Have you called Gina?" "Yesterday. She wants to get together with me and Stone when I get settled." "Small favors." "More like miracles." "Robin said that when we get back we should all go for ice cream." "Good idea. One of those banana splits. Of course we’d have to order two." "Why?" "One for you and one for the rest of us." "Very funny Cates. " She said punching him lightly. "Always. We should get going." "I’ll go get Stone." "No you stay I’ll go." Jagger walked into his home to retrieve his brother and Brenda climbed into the truck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey Sonny. You just missed a call from Stone." "Really? What’d he say? Did he mention Brenda?" "Yes really. He said they were leaving and no he didn’t mention Bren." "Why would he call you if they were leaving for the airport?" "They aren’t flying back. They’re driving." "Why?" "Because Jagger didn’t want to ship all his stuff." "Why would Jagger need to ship anything?" "He’s moving back here." "What?!?!?!" "Jagger’s moving home." "You mean Jagger and Karen are moving home, right?" "No I mean Jagger." "What about Karen?" Robin mumbled something unintelligible. "What was that?" "Karen’s not coming. She and Jagger are getting a divorce." Ch. 44 by Julie "Karen and Jagger are getting a divorce?" Sonny suddenly felt a sickening feeling in his gut. "Yeah, Brenda and Stone convinced him to move back to Port Charles." "Brenda convinced him?" "Yeah, well.. uh Jagger wants to be here for Stone. He is his brother Sonny." "Sure, right...I know that." he started to pace. ~~~~~~~~ "Guys, I really need to go to the bathroom." Brenda whined form the back seat. "We just stopped a half hour ago." Stone said rolling his eyes. "I can't help it. I have to go." Jagger laughed at the scenario playing out. He couldn't remember when he had laughed or smiled so much. Having Stone around was just what he needed. Of course having Brenda there too wasn't hurting things. He looked at her in his rear view mirror. She was still as beautiful as ever, but more mature now. Sonny was one lucky guy. ~~~~~~~~~~ Sonny walked into his office and picked up a picture of Brenda. She meant everything to him. He thought about his dream, or rather nightmare. He tried to shake the thought from his mind. Brenda would never leave him for Jagger. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Brenda I don't think that I've ever seen you eat this much before." "Well, Jagger I am eating for two." "Yeah two Elephants!" Stone cracked. "You should see poor Sonny try to feed her." "If you ask me he's a lucky guy to have you. I guess you could say I'm a little jealous of him." Brenda almost choked on her food. "Did you just say that YOU are jealous of Sonny?!" "I know it sounds weird, but yeah, I guess I am. He's got you and that little baby. What else does a guy need?" Ch 45 "Hey Bren?" "Yeah?" she mumbled sleepily. "We just entered New Jersey." "That means we’re almost home right?" "Yep." "Is Stone asleep?" Brenda turned slightly and checked on Stone. "Yeah he’s out. Has been since after dinner." "I’m gonna miss him." "We all are. Jagger?" "Yeah?" "Did you tell Karen?" "I couldn’t." "She deserves to know." "I know. I just couldn’t tell her." "Did you mean what you said before?" "About what?" "Sonny being a lucky guy." "Absolutely. He is really lucky. I wish I had half the things he had. Just having someone to love and who loved me would be nice." "You have a lot of people to love you Jagger." "You know what I mean. Someone to love me the way you and Sonny love each other." "You did have that. Jagger why didn’t you fight harder to hang on to Karen?" "It’s a long story." "We’ve got time." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Robin, what time is it?" "Five minutes later than the last time you asked." "You don’t have to get snappy on me." "Sonny I love you okay? But you are getting on the last nerve I have left." "I’m sorry." "No you’re jealous and frankly I’m getting a wee bit tired of it." "Robin how would you feel if Stone and his ex-girlfriend were in a car together and that this girl was someone he was very much in love with at one time?" "First of all I trust Stone and second of all Brenda and Jagger are friends. That’s it." "Jagger is a free man. He could be feeling nostalgic for his old flame." "Just because Jagger might be feeling something for Brenda doesn’t mean the Bren is feeling something for him. She loves YOU. She’s going to marry YOU. She trusts YOU. She’s having YOUR baby. "What do you mean?" "I mean I think you’re hiding something." "Karen had an affair." Ch. 46 "Karen had an affair?" Brenda asked suprised. "Yeah. some med student in her class. Joe something or other. Any way that was the final straw." "Start from the begining Jagger." "Well first things were really great. Then I was working more and she was always at the hospital. But we always made time for each other ya know? Then she just started making up excuses not to come home. She was studying, doing research. Well one day I came home and lo and behold who do i find? My wife and some guy studying anatomy. In my bed!" "you caught them in bed together? Oh Jagger, I..I don't know what to say except that I'm sorry." "Well that makes two of us. So tell me more about your life in Port Charles?" ~~~~~~~~~~~ "Sonny I know that you don't wnat to admit it but you ARE acting like a fool!" "I thought that you were on my side!?" "I am. Besides why do I need to take sides? Nothings happened and nothing will. Brenda is crazy in love with you! She's marrying you and having your baby for crying out loud!" "I know, I know. "well they're going to be here soon. So I suggest that you check you attitude at the door or you might just do excactly what you don't want to do." Ch 47 "Hello? Robin? Sonny? We’re home." Brenda shouted as she, Stone, and Jagger walked into the penthouse. "You’re home. I still need to find one." Jagger corrected "I’m sure Ruby would love to have you until you find a place." Brenda said. Then she turned back and yelled. "Hey is anybody here?" Jagger looked around and spotted a piece of paper propped up on the desk. "Aha! I think I might of found your answer." "What?" He motioned and her eyes fell on the note. She picked it up and mumbled it aloud. "Dear Brenda and Stone, Sorry I’m not there……yadda, yadda, yadda, see you later. Sonny. Oh well. Stone are you gonna go up?" "Yeah I’m tired. Night guys." "Night." Brenda and Jagger said as they watched him make his way up the stairs carefully, as not to fall. "So you hungry?" Brenda asked after Stone had made it upstairs safely. "A little." "A little? Right Jagger. You were the biggest bottomless pit in high school and you couldn’t have changed that much." "You wanna talk bottomless? I’ve seen you put away enough food to feed a small country for a month in the last twenty-four hours alone." Brenda pouted and then she stuck out her tongue at Jagger. "Real mature Bren." "I try. So what do you want? Sonny keeps this place pretty well stocked." "Nothing fancy. Your cooking improved?" Brenda gave him a "What do you think?" look. "Guess not. I’ll just have a beer and some chips." "Coming right up. Just make yourself comfortable." Brenda went into the kitchen and Jagger sat on the couch. A few minutes later the door opened and Sonny walked in. He stopped short at the sight of Jagger. "What are you doing here?" Ch. 48 Jagger stared at Sonny. Neither one liked the other. That was one thing that hadn't changed. "Are you going to answer me or just stand there like a rock?" "Well I was just being entertained by Brenda." Jagger noticed the look of jealousy that flushed Sonny's face. He remembered how much sonny had flaunted his realtionship with Karen, and felt the need for a little pay back. "Excuse me?" "She's quite a woman you know. We had a great time in Chicago. Especially the ride home." "What the hell is that suppose to mean?" "Jagger I hope you like pasta with clam sauce...Sonnywhen did you get home?" "A few minuted ago. Listen I'll leave you to your guest. I have things to do. Jagger." he stomped off to the office. "Did you two fight?" Brenda asked knowingly as she stared at Jagger's smug smile. "don't worry about it. Listen I'm going to head over to ruby's so I'll see you in the morning?" "Sure thing." "Alright bye." he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. `````````````` "Sonny?" Brenda called as she poked her head in his office. He was sitting at his desk going over the papers for Luke's. "What's the matter?" she asked, sauntering over to him. It was then that he noticed how her pants were starting to round slightly. "nothing." "nothing right." she headed for the door. "What do you expect from me Brenda? Huh?" "Sonny, I don't even know what your talking about?" "I come home and find a man that I can not stand making himself comfortable in MY living room while my fiance is serving im the dinner I made especially for her?" "what?" she said softly. "I know that's your favorite so I thought that i would surprise you." he answered back, equally as soft. "Baby, I had no idea that seeing jagger would make you that upset." "Well, I just missed you and...he wasn't the first person wanted to see when I came home." they had been walking closer to one another this whole time and now had their arms wrapped around each other. "I'm sorry. i missed you too. So much. I'm sorry thatwe fought before I left." "I didn't mean to make you feel left out, I just want you and the baby safe. I guess I kinda ovrreacted with not letting you come to the hospital with Stone. How is he?" "As good as can be expected. He wants to talk to you in the morning. Now, are you going to feed me or what?" "I vote for or what." he smiled, dimples flaring. He scooped her up and they slowly undressed each other and made love on the couch in his office. Later that night, Sonny feed Brenda his specialty of pasta with clams in bed. Ch 49 "Hey Ruby. Where’s your newest tenant?" "Right here." Jagger said coming out of the kitchen. "So you ready to go apartment hunting?" "Yep. Just let me get my coat." Jagger headed upstairs and Brenda sat on a stool. She looked up at the sound of footsteps expecting to see Jagger but instead she saw Lily. She rolled her eyes and looked back down at her menu. "Hello Brenda." She said in a sickeningly sweet voice. "Lily." "What are you doing here?" "Waiting for a friend." "Lois?" "No this friend’s male." "Someone I know?" "I don’t think so." More footsteps and Jagger entered. "Hey you ready finally?" "Yep. Let’s go." "Bye Ruby." "See ya later Ruby." The pair exited Kelly’s leaving Lily to stare after them. There was an obvious closeness between the two. The man had an arm slung around Brenda’s shoulders. She turned back to the counter where Ruby was standing. "Was that a friend of Brenda’s?" "Oh yes that was Jagger Cates. He and Brenda are old friends." "Jagger Cates? Oh that’s Stone’s brother." "Uh-huh." "Jagger and Brenda were close at one point?" "Very close. Very, very close." "You mean they slept together?" "Yes. Of course that was a long time ago before Jagger and Karen got married and Brenda met Sonny." "Hmm. So where’s his wife?" "Karen won’t be joining Jagger." "Oh." "It’s a shame. They were always so perfect together. Well I better get back into that kitchen. See ya later honey." "Bye Ruby." Lily’s mind was working overtime (can’t you just see the smoke?). She knew how jealous Sonny could get and it wouldn’t take much with Brenda’s old flame in town and about to be divorced. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "So Stone what’s up?" "I have a favor to ask." "Anything you want you got it. You know that." "I don’t have a lot of time left and I want to spend all the time with the people I love that I can." "Okay." "What I’m trying to say is I’d like you to be nicer to my brother." Ch. 50 "Stone you know that I would do anything for you but being nice to Jagger...well kid that's one tough order." "Look Sonny, I know how you and Jagger feel about each other but it would mean alot to me AND Brneda if you two could get along." "I'll try not to kill him, there are you happy now?" "Yes. Thanks Sonny." "Listen i'm going over to he club. Are you going to be alright?" "Yeah, Robin's coming over. See ya later, man." "see ya." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Oh, Jagger this one is so perfect!" Brenda cooed as she walked around yet another apartment. "i don't know, Brenda. I mean it's kinda small." "Well there is only one of you. C'mon Jagger what is wrong with it?" "Truth? I guess that I just thought it would already be furnished like Kelly's." "Wait, are you saying that you are worried about decorating?" Brenda started to laugh uncontrollably. "It's not that funny." he said defensively. "Look, if that's the only thing that is keeping you from getting this place than I'll help you decorate. Ok?" "You would do that for me?" "Of course, that is what friends are for, right?" Jagger smiled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sonny sat at a table in Luke's going over the books. Lily walked in and over to the table. "Hello, Sonny." He looked up. "Lily, wht are you doing here?" "Well at least you're being civil to me, again. May I sit down?" "Sure. What can I do for you." "Sonny, I came to apologize for the wire thing. I really thought that Brenda knew about it. I was only trying to be your friend." "Lily I would really just like to forget everything." "Really?" "Yeah. So what can I do for you?" "Nothing really. So how is Stone?" "Better, now that his brother is back in town. He really needs all the support he can get." "Well he has you and Brenda." "Yeah he does. But you can never have enough family." "Right. So how is Brenda feeling these days? She looks great!" "when did you see her?" "This morning as she was leaving with Stone's brother. I had no idea that they were so close or that they used to be lovers." "Yeah well she's fine. Listen Lily i have things to do." "right, well I'll see you around." Lily left. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Several hours later Brenda came through the doors of the penthouse. it was dark. She firgured that Sonny was at the club. "How was your day?" "Sonny! You scared me. What are you doing sitting in the dark?" "Waiting for you. So how did your errands go?" "Fine. What's the matter?" "Nothing. So what errands did you have to run again? i forgot." "nothing special, just stuff." "Right. So when were you planning on telling me about your little affair with Jagger?!" Ch 51 "What are you talking about?" "Why didn't you tell me you'd be with him all day?" "Because I know you and I know how you feel about Jagger and I also know how Jagger feels about you. You know what I can't figure out?" "What?" "The two of you care about a lot of the same people and yet you can't stand the sight of one another. Why is that?" "Because he's rude and obnoxious." "He's also Stone's brother and one of the best friends I've ever had." "I know he's Stone's brother and I don't have a problem with that. It's the part where he's your friend that I don't like." "What? You don't want me to have male friends?" "No just not Jagger." "Of all the condescending, self-centered, pigheaded things to say that has to be the worst. Now you're telling me who to be friends with? Maybe I shouldn't hang around Ned anymore or Jason or AJ." "No argument here." "That's it. I'm outta here. If and when you want to apologize for being a jerk I'll be at the gatehouse." "Brenda wait." "NO! You are a selfish bastard and right now I don't want to talk to you." Brenda slammed out of the penthouse leaving Sonny to be alone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Alright one more time Brenda. What happened?" Lois was trying to calm her friend. "He-he-he and I-I-I and he-he-he was being so-so-so...." Brenda was bodering on being hysterical and Lois and Ned were having trouble getting her to speak coherently. "Okay. Lois I think Brenda needs some tea." "I think you're right. I'll go get it. Try to calm her down." "I am." "Try harder. This isn't good for the baby." Lois went into the kitchen and Ned put an arm around his friend. "Brenda? I want you to listen to me. You need to take a deep breath and calm down. All this stress isn't good for the baby." Brenda did as she was told and her sobs subsided into hiccups. Ned patted her back and made soothing circular motions. "Okay do you want to tell me what's wrong?" "He accused me of having an affair with Jagger." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey Sonny? Lucy's on the phone for Brenda. Where is she?" "The gatehouse." "This late?" Robin took a look at Sonny's face. "Hey Lucy? Yeah Bren's at the gatehouse. Right. Okay. Bye." Robin hung up the phone and looked at Sonny. "What happened?" "What do you mean?" "Why is Brenda at the gatehouse?" "We fought and she left." "What did you fight about?" "Jagger." "Sonny I told you to keep your big mouth shut, didn't I?" "Robin you don't understand." "Explain it to me." "She was with him all day and she didn't even tell me about it." "Is it any wonder? She knew you'd have a fit." "I happen to be a very understanding person." "So when you fought what did you say?" "I accused her of having an affair with Jagger." Ch. 52 "You did WHAT!!!! Sonny of all the STUPID,SELFISH things to say!! Sonny when are you going to get it through your head that Brenda loves only you?" "Robin, I don't know what happens to me. But everytime I think of Brenda with any other guy, i don't know I just go crazy. And the fact that i had to hear that she was out with him all day from someone else just made even more crazy." "that is still no reason to accuse her of having an affair." "i know. I'm going tohave to make this up to her." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brenda, Lucy's on the phone. Do you want me to tell her to call you back?" Ned asked. "No, I'll talk to her. Hello, Lucy, what"s up?" "You'll never believe it!! I just had the most incredible vision, well I can't really take all the credit for it, after all it was partly Kevin's idea, but after all he is a genius my doc is. And why are you at the penthouse so late, isn't Sonny doing the whole protective routine-" "Lucy. Why did you call?" "oh, sorry. Well my idea was you and a very yummy looking man in a tropical paradise. How does Fiji sound?" "really? i lvoe it. I could stand to get away. But how long are you talking, becasue I don;t want to be away from Stone." "A week tops. And that's not even the best part. Well be doing Deception's first television commercial." "A commercial! That's so cool!" "Great so you'll do it?" "Yeah I will. But Lucy who's going to be the other model?" "i'm not sure yet, but I was thinking of making him an unknown like you were." "Great idea. When do we leave?" "The end of the month. Can you come by the office tomorrow to get all information?" "Sure. I'll see ya then. bye Lucy." "what was that all about?" Lois asked as she returned with the tea. "I am going to be in a commercial!! And I get to go to Fiji!!!" "wow!! But Brenda are you sure that's a good idea?" "It's an oppurtunity that I've been waiting for. Do you know how much publicity a national television commercial will give me?" "Yeah, but Bren did you forget about Stone and your baby?" "Of course not. But I'll only be gone a week. Besides Stone would be upset if he thought I was missing out an this because of him." "What about Sonny?"
