Wilson Tong

Wilson Tong

This amazing actor/director/choreographer fled from the communists in the 60's over the South China Sea only with the help of a basketball. The sea was full of hungry sharks but that didn't stop him from swimming trough it. He was skinny and quite little but had tremendous kung fu skills, therefore excellent for starting his kung fu career by doubling for female stars and doing the stunts. However, his big break came when Cheung Sum gave him a chance to show his stuff in "Snake in the Monkey's Shadow" which he choreographed and starred in.
My favorite Wilson movies would be "Snake Deadly Act", which he directed, choreographed and starred in, and the classic "The Victim" which after a small but impressive role gave him the nickname "The Foot Doctor" for his superior footwork. He also made a great cameo in Shaw Brother's "Dirty Ho" which had him fighting Gordon Liu.
Today he is still active in the Hong Kong movie field.
