Stefan's New Love
Chapter 13
"All those angels running,"
The end of the week came quickly. Stefan was seeing Laura and LuLu off at the dock. He
would be following them to Port Charles after he took care of some business and he had to
see Brie. Brie was approaching on another boat. Stefan picked up LuLu and held her
tightly. He kissed her cheek and handed her to the boat operator. Laura walked into his
embrace. His hand cupped her face then he held her to him. Their lips met. Brie thought it
would be a quick peck but the kiss kept going and going. "Uh oh," she thought.
When they finally broke apart Stefan was smiling and he helped Laura into the boat. Laura
gave him another quick kiss before the boat pulled away. Stefan's eyes never left the boat
till Brie's boat hit against the dock. The smile left his face. This is not good Brie
thought. She cursed herself for giving them a week alone. She knew Laura still loved him
and his feelings ran deep, but she thought Stefan had made up his mind and wanted more
from a relationship. Damn!
Stefan came to help her out of the boat

S Hello Brie how are you?
She walked up to kiss him. He pecked her lips and stepped back.
B So what's going on?
S We need to talk Brie. I have some exciting news.
B Exciting for whom?
S I hope you will be happy for me.
B This sounds like a good-bye to me.
S Laura is pregnant with my child.
Brie felt as if the air was sucked from her lungs. She had never anticipated this!
B And you need to fulfill your obligation to the child. (She said trying to take it all in
and still find a way to make it work for them.)
S Laura has agreed to be my wife. (He said bluntly. He wanted to spare her any long drawn
out explaination.)
B I see.
S I never wanted to hurt you Brie. I still care for you a great deal but there's a child
involved now. You once asked me if I wanted children. It's been my dream for so long. (He
was fumbling to explain.)
B Are you sure it's yours?
S Laura would never lie about this.
B How do you know?
He didn't have to say a word. His face changed some how and Brie knew all was lost. It was
like he was connected to Laura. When he felt her presence at the ball she should have
known there was a special bond between them. Her heart just wouldn't let her see it.
B I love you Stefan!
Stefan hung his head and said "I know Brie. What we had could have turned into
something...
B Don't! (she stopped him) Don't make this worse. I told you no strings. You haven't done
anything to hurt me so don't make me look at a future that will never be. That would be
too painfull. I've never lived my life by what-if's and I don't plan to start now.
S You are an amazing woman Brie!
B I love you (she said again) and I will never be sorry. You are a beautiful man Stefan
Cassadine, inside and out. I only hope Laura will come to her senses and give you her
whole heart. You deserve it! I wish you all the happiness in the world Stefan!
She pecked his cheek and got back on the boat. She waved once then turned to face the far
horizon tears stinging her eyes. Stefan watched her go. He hated seeing the pain in her
eyes and knowing he was the cause. She truely was a beautiful woman in every way. He would
miss her.

As Stefan gazed out to sea long after Brie's boat had vanished he thought ahead to the
future.
Laura! The love of his life finally making a commitment to him. They had many things to
work out but he knew in his heart that is what they both wanted.
A baby! This child would know love. The love of a mother. The love of three siblings. And
most importantly the love of a father. His heart reached out and bonded with his child
from the moment of discovery!
This child would be... Stefan's New Love!
