The frog has found the perfect Zen.

Sitting absolutely still and relaxed
for hours. Yet when a fly comes by
the frog reacts instantly. Perfectly.
The frog is totally aware all the time.

Be like the frog.

Tenko

Student says I am very discouraged
what should I do?

Master says encourage others.

Zen proverb

The future is the only period
we can change.

But not in advance.

Tenko

Waste of time changing stuff.

Wait.

The now comes to us.

Kojoro

When you expect something, when you
aim at something, right there you
dilute your energy; you split your
energy, you split your attention and
it becomes more than the place of
yin and yang.

You do not only divide, but
you create the problem.

Taizan Maezumi Roshi

Love is a power in its own right.
As such it is the same for all of us.
Love is a state of mind.
As such it is personal to all of us.

Tenko

Do not follow in the footsteps
of the old masters,
but seek what they sought.

Bashô

The obstacle is the path.

Zen proverb

This age is as any other age.
Different.

It is allways the same.

Tenko

If your mind is empty, it is always ready
for anything; it is open to everything.
In the beginner's mind there are many
possibilities; in the expert's mind
there are few.

Shunryu Suzuki Roshi

We are not soul. We are ultimately we.
The soul is part of us. We are part of
the soul. Independent parts of the
universe. All in one. One in all.
We are universe as much as we are soul.
We are still we.

Tenko

Carrying the self forward to confirm
the myriad dharmas is delusion.

The myriad dharmas advancing and
confirming the self is realization.

Dogen Zenji

If it is conciously excluded it is
included as the excluded. If not it
is not possible to say that it is
excluded.

Awareness of that which we know
ourselves to not know includes it.
The rest of the unknown is excluded
but not by conscious exclusion.

Tenko

Real Practice has orientation or direction,
but it has no purpose or gaining idea,
so it can include everything that comes.

Shunryu Suzuki Roshi

Sakyamuni achieved the ultimate state
in his own way claiming that everyone
could do the same.

Achieve it in their own way as he did.
Not the way he did it.

Everyone should be able to join Sinatra
in that famous song of his and do so
in unison.

Tenko

Before you study Zen, mountains are mountains
and rivers are rivers. While you are studying
Zen, mountains are no longer mountains and
rivers are no longer rivers, but once you have
had enlightenment, mountains are once again
mountains and rivers again rivers.

Zen saying

If I said you are already enlightened
would you then say okay and stop
looking for it?

Tenko

If you understand, things are just as they are...
if you do not understand, things are just as they are

Zen proverb

This truth is not out there.
This truth is in there.

Tenko
