Buying Stuff
I don't know about you, but part of
the fun of being a fan is buying and collecting stuff on your
favorite actor! Joseph hasn't been in alot of publicity magazines
like the "teen rags". (which is a GOOD thing, really!
Less hype and headache for Joseph and giving him more time to be
a regular kid!) But, who knows? Maybe one day he'll become very
famous. But then again, he could have a dozen movies in a few
years and people might still be going "Joseph Who"? :D
Luckilly, alot of Joseph's film and TV
work is available SOMEWHERE. (though not always in the US!) I
have provided as many links to the most popular shopping sites on
the web as I can. I will constantly be checking to see if
anything goes out of print, arrives on a new format (such as DVD
etc.), so if there are any outdated links, please let me know!
"Wide
Awake"
- Film: "Wide Awake" is now available
on VHS for a low sell through price! A must have film!
VHS: Amazon.Com
Reel.Com
DVD: DVD Express
- Book: There
are some cool new pics from the film in the novelization
for WA, which is a children's book: (Though I don't think
the kid on the cover is Joe!)
Amazon.Com
- Soundtrack: The soundtrack to "Wide Awake"
is as beautiful as the film itself. Composed by Edmund
Choi, it wonderfully captures all the magical moods of
the film, from light hearted cheer and innocence to
serious drama to emotional spiritual and religious
overtones. Unfortunately, because the film didn't do to
well, Miramax obviously thought it wasn't worth releasing
the soundtrack commercially. I was luckilly able to get a
promotional copy through EBay, where I've
seen a few copies occasionally go on sale. The link below
will search EBay for anything related to "Wide
Awake".
EBay
"Jack
Frost"
- Film: "Jack
Frost" is available on VHS and DVD. A great film any
time of the year! The DVD contains the theatrical
trailer, behind the scenes notes, scene access and
language dubbing/subtitles

- Book: Scholastic
has released two movie tie-in books aimed at younger
readers. The "movie storybook" has quite a few
cool pictures from the film and is aimed at younger kids,
while the "movie novelization", which also has
some pictures in the middle of the book, is aimed at
older kids.

Movie Novelization: Amazon.Com
- Soundtrack: The score for "Jack Frost" was
composed by Trevor Rabin, who is a member of the rock
group Yes. Unfortunately, like "Wide Awake",
the full score featuring Rabin was never released
commercially. However, there is a regular soundtrack
available featuring an eclectic group of artists (Want
eclectic? How often can you hear Lisa Loeb, Hanson, Jars
of Clay, the Spice Girls, Lucinda Williams, Swirl 360,
and The Jack Frost Band featuring Michael Keaton [yes, he
really does sing!] all on the same CD?). There is one
track from Rabin also on the ST. It is called
"Frostbite". As for the full score, your best
bet again, is to try EBay where
I've seen several promo copies on sale. Definitely a
great score if you love the movie (like I do!) that will
remind you of it every time you hear it!

"Desperate
Measures"
- Film: Luckilly,
"Desperate Measures" is also available on DVD
and VHS, making all three of Joseph's theatrical films
available on each format.
VHS: Amazon.Com
Reel.Com
DVD: Amazon.Com
Reel.Com
- Book: There are several books with the title
"Desperate Measures"--I guess this title is
pretty popular. The novelization of the film, however, is
by two authors:
Amazon.Com
- Soundtrack: The soundtrack is by Trevor Jones, a
prolific scorer with a great sound that captures the
chill and fear of the movie.

Touched by
an Angel
- Video: A must have! CBS' first video release of
any of the episodes of Touched by an Angel was
the video featuring the 1st and 100th episodes, with
"Psalm 151" being the 100th.
VHS: Amazon.Com
- Book: There are several books related to
"Touched by an Angel". I don't think
"Psalm 151" is in any of them, however.
Amazon.Com
- Soundtrack: If you saw "Psalm 151", you
heard an extraordinarily moving song performed by Wynonna
called "Testify to Love". It fit the ending of
the episode perfectly, where everyone is singing through
their tears. This song is captured on the first CD
soundtrack for the show. The other song from the episode,
"Love Can Move Mountains" by Celine Dion, is
another treat. Another great song is "You Were
Loved", also by Wynonna and written by prolific
songwriter Diane Warren. Like Joseph's incredible
performance and the episode itself, the songs will stay
with you always. Highly recommended!

Northern
Lights
- Video: Unfortunately,
the video for "Northern Lights" is only
available for rental (and purchase) in Canada. However,
it does exist and EBay once again is probably your best
bet for a copy. There is a VCD available that you can
order online, though not VHS.
EBay
- Book: "Northern Lights" was based on
a play by John Hoffman. I don't see a book adaptation,
however.
The Spring
- Video: The Spring is available on DVD,
though like most TV-movies released on DVD, the amount of
extras is pretty slim, but at least it is available!
Amazon.Com
- Book: The book by Clifford Irving is out of
print. However, Amazon.Com can special order out of print
books. There's no guarantee they will find them, but
they've been pretty good in my experiences so far. It may
take some time, however.

As the
World Turns
- Book: There is a 40th anniversary book
available for As the World Turns. It was
published before Joseph joined the cast, but if you're a
fan of the show or interested in the history of the show,
here it is:

"Running With
Scissors"
Book: I have
not gotten up the courage to read the memoir by Augusten
Burroughs on which the film is based. I am told it is
very good but not light reading and NOT for younger ones
by any stretch. That goes double for the movie, probably!
Amazon.Com
Film: The film was released on DVD on February
6, 2007.
Amazon.Com
"Flags of Our
Fathers"
Book: The movie is based on a bestselling
memoir by James Bradley & Ron Powers, based on their
memories of the harrowing battle of Iwo Jima in World War
II.
Amazon.Com
Film: They were released theatrically on the
same day, and were released on DVD the same day -- RWS
and "Flags"! Coincidence or conspiracy? You be
the judge! <g>

"Strangers With
Candy"
- Film: The movie is out on DVD. Joe isn't in it
much, but don't let that stop you from seeing it! :)
