Places in Texas

There are so many places to go in Texas .... so many things to do .... and so many
things to see .... it's like my Mimi used to say, "It makes my eyeballs tired!!!"
You can step back in time and visit the Port Isabel Lighthouse, near the Causeway
that gets you to South Padre Island. If you're brave, climb the lighthouse steps,
and get a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mexico, the Laguna Madre, the shrimp
boats, and the Island itself. Just want to cool off on a hot summer day? How
about a trip to the Hamilton Pool near the state capital of Austin. Or take
a cool hike through vibrant green woods on this Moscow Wood Trail.

San Antonio

All the big cities in Texas have something to offer, but my very favorite "big city"
is San Antonio. Pictured above are mariachis at the San Jose Mission, one of five
Spanish missions established along the San Antonio River in the 18th Century. The
river itself has been reclaimed, cleaned up, and expanded providing the revitalized
inner city with the world-famous Riverwalk, shown here during Fiesta, held
every spring. At Christmas, the trees, shops and walkways are strung with lights
creating a wondrous sight for visitors.

History abounds in this city....you can visit the Alamo and stand where David Crockett,
Jim Bowie and William Barrett Travis, along with more than 100 others died fighting
for Texas independence. Beside the Alamo, there is an old fortification housing the
museum exhibits. On the lighter side, you can visit Fiesta Texas and Seaworld. There
are rides and shows and water attractions and food!!!! Shown here is the Rattler
Roller Coaster at Fiesta Texas.
