Transformers: Armada currently airs on Cartoon
Network in the US, and YTV in Canada. While it tells the same basic story
as the Armada comic, there are quite a few differences. For one, in the TV
show, Minicons communicate in a series of beeps and clicks, much like R2D2 in
Star Wars, rather than talk. Other differences include the fact that some
characters differ in personality from their comic counterparts.
The basic story begins on the planet Cybertron, where the Autobots and
Decepticons are at war with one another. A new faction, known as the
Minicons, appears on Cybertron. Although they originally serve as
builders, they quickly become part of the war when the Decepticons use them to
augment and increase their powers. After much battling, the Minicons leave
Cybertron, in order to make sure they'd never be used as weapons again.
However, fate was not kind to the Minicons, for not long after taking off, they
crash landed on planet Earth. The crash caused most Minicons to enter
stasis, and become trapped in stasis panels.
Time passed. Although Minicons would be reawakened by primitive humans, the Cybertronians would not know of their fate. The civilization that awoke the Minicons would be destroyed, and the Minicons would once again fade into memory. Then, a boy named Rad, and his friend Carlos, stumble onto the remains of the Minicon ship, activating a dormant Minicon and sending a signal to Cybertron.
The signal is detected by both the Autobots and Decepticons. The two groups travel to earth, each of them seeking the Minicons for a different reason. The Decepticons, for the power the Minicons bring. For the Autobots, in order to keep them out of Decepticon control. Thus, a war begins on planet Earth, between the forces of Megatron, and Optimus Prime...
