The Predacons are vicious, cruel, and brutal. They seem to be nothing more than ferocious primitives, animalistic savagery given form, and the often simple speech and thoughts of the Predacons Headstrong and Tantrum add to this view. This image, however, belies their actual deviousness, especially that of Razorclaw, the Predacon leader, who has an intelligence at least equal to that of any Decepticon. Dangerous and unpredictable, the Predacons are a fearsome adversary to any who would stand in their way.
The Predacons have acted in league with both the Decepticons and the Quintessons in the past, and are currently in league with the latter. It is not clear whether the Predacons were built by the Quintessons, or were Decepticons who left Cybertron during the Scattering and have simply allied themselves with the Quintessons at a later time. In either event, the Predacons have aided the Decepticons in the past during the high point of Decepticon/Quintesson relations in 2006. Subsequent events led to a falling out of relations, however, as the Predacons and Decepticons drifted further apart. The Predacons were not involved in the Decepticons' "Final Offensive" against Earth and Cybertron in 2007.
The Predacons transform into savage beasts of the wild: Razorclaw into a lion, Rampage a tiger, Divebomb an eagle, Tantrum a bull, and Headstrong a rhino. They also have the ability to merge to form Predaking, a hair-trigger horror, a terrifying gestalt that is the closest thing to a perfect fighting machine that there is. Predaking is such a perfect fusion of the five Predacons that there is virtually none of the slowdown or dullness that usually results from gestalt component interaction; instead, his reaction time is almost instantaneous in responding with his x-ray laser cannon, his twin mortar shells, or his pure animal strength.
