The Quintessons are cruel, sinister beings whose ultimate goal is nothing short of reconquest over their former slaves, the Transformers, and reestablishment of their totalitarian galactic empire.
Eleven million years ago, the Quintessons were the most advanced race known in existence, whose empire stretched across the galaxy. No other power could compare with the Quintessons' dominance. The Quintessons utilized robot slaves -- the ancestors of the Autobots and the Decepticons -- to maintain control over their empire, headquarted on the planet Cybertron. They were cruel masters, and, as a result, their slaves revolted and drove their masters off of Cybertron to establish their own independence.
Following the Autobot rebellion, known as the First Cybertronian War, the Quintesson Empire collapsed. Those Quintessons that remain are scattered across the galaxy with limited resources, scheming to one day retake Cybertron and reestablish themselves as galactic powers. In retrospect, it seems strange that a race advanced enough to create vast armies of giant robots with fully functioning artificial intelligences and powerful enough to conquer a galaxy would fall so rapidly and vanish so completely following an isolated rebellion on a single planet...
