This journey is designed for those looking for fun and adventure. Experience the best of Old Siam surrounded by beautiful temples, delicious foods, amazing scenery, and friendly locals. We travel around Thailand using a variety of local transport including train, bus, boat, taxi, song teow, and tuk tuk. Day 1 & 2: Arrive in & Explore Bangkok Sawatdii and Welcome to Thailand! Your adventure begins today with your arrival in Bangkok at Don Muang Airport. There are no set activities planned for today so that you may arrive at anytime. When you arrive at Bangkok Don Muang Airport, our driver will come to pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. On arrival at your hotel please check the notice board in the lobby for any messages from Yao. The adventure begins at 6:00pm for your group meeting and dinner with Yao. Good morning! Once you wake up in Bangkok, there will be a short meeting in the lobby at 9:30am and then there will be a three-hour walking tour with Yao to the amazing Grand Palace and beautiful reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. In the evening we will go to watch an exciting Thai boxing match called Muay Thai. (Day 2 B) Day 3 & 4: Travel to & Explore Kanchanaburi After breakfast, there will be a brief meeting in the lobby at 8:30am and then good bye Bangkok. We will head to the bus station for the 2-hour bus trip to Kanchanaburi. Once we arrive in Kanchanaburi, we will check into our riverside guest house. In the afternoon we will take a longtail boat ride to the infamous World War II bridge on the River Kwai, the Allied war cemetery, the J.A.E.T.H (Japan, Australia, England, Thailand, Holland) Museum, and a nearby cave. (Day 3 B) In the morning, we will take a full-day tour of Hell Fire Pass, the dead railroad, Erawan National Park, and a beautiful seven-tiered waterfall. You will have time to swim or relax in the cool blue water of this breathtaking waterfall. If you have the energy, you are welcome to trek along the jungle trail to the top of the waterfall. (Day 4 B) Day 5: Travel to & Explore Ayudthaya After breakfast we will leave Kanchanaburi for the old capital city Ayudthaya. This time we will travel through the flat rich farm land by air-conditioned mini van. Once we arrive, we will leave our baggage at a local hotel so that we can explore Adudthaya by tuk tuk and on foot. You will discover and enjoy the vast ancient ruins of this amazing UNESCO historical site. After exploring Ayudthaya, we will return to the hotel to relax or swim at the pool then shower before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai. The train leaves for Chiang Mai at about 8:00pm in the evening. (Day 5 B) Day 6: Arrive in & Explore Chiang Mai Good morning Chiang Mai! We arrive in the Northern city of Chiang Mai early in the morning and transfer to our guest house. There will be a short meeting time in the lobby and then it is time to explore the beauty of Chiang Mai with over 300 temples. Today we will visit the Tribal Research Institute in preparation for our hill tribe trek. Then we will go see the most beautiful temple, Wat Phatat Doi Suthep located high on the mountain with a glorious view of Chiang Mai. Next is a visit to another interesting temple, Wat Prasing where Yao served as a Buddhist monk. The afternoon is yours to individually explore or relax by the pool. Yao can give you suggestions and directions. In the evening, we will have a meeting at 6:00pm to meet our local friends and the porter in preparation for our four-day hill tribe trek. We will then go have dinner together at the Old Chiang Mai Culture Center where we will share a delicious Thai dinner with traditional Thai music and dancing.
