Welcome to the San Francisco -
Bay Area. There are many attractions and activities in this
wonderful silicon valley! Here are a few of our favorite
spots:
Golden
Gate Bridge (good dining, wonderful ocean view
and sunset). Points of interest are: Alcatraz -
Deserted prison, Palace of the Legion of Honor - Art museum, Golden
Gate Park - Urban park, Baker Beach - Beach, City Lights
Bookstore - Historic bookshop, Pier 39
China Town (great
Peking duck and late night super).
Sit down and play Chinese chess with some of the Masters.
Santa
Cruz (nice beach. Visit the UCSC (University of California at Santa Cruz), one of the nicest school in the state)
Tech Museum - The Museum of
Innovation. It is San Jose down town, the kids will love it!
University of California at Berkeley, UCB
That's where all the hippies & flowers! We often stop
by to visit Thinh, our younger brother doing his PhD there. Visit Lawrence Lab,
great view of the Bay. Wander around the school district, have
coffee and talk to local people...
Stanford University
It is an upscale neighborhood. Excellent
shopping mall, expensive though. Visit during Xmas to see the
street lights. Pluto restaurant on University
Ave has good steak at reasonable prices.
Carmel - Monterey
Over 60 art galleries located throughout Monterey Peninsula
including the Thomas Kinkade Galleries...There are many
shopping places, tours, and miles of
vast ocean view in Carmel. Wonderful golf courses (famous Pebble
Beach Course).
Big Sur The name "Big Sur" is derived from the original
Spanish-language "El Sur Grande", which
translates as "the Big South". And so it seemed to early settlers in Monterey. The coastal area
to their south was huge and unexplored, and its coastline was especially treacherous to ships.
It is an ideal place for camping...
