THINKING IN THE MAIN

This is the presentation. This is the focal point of the "linking"--the sharing between the minds of the American reality and the reality of "the other" America.

Please read on--and enjoy your stay.

In Times Of Pain And Passions

When Miss Maya Angelou spoke on NightLine (Friday--Sept. 14, 2001), she felt compelled to chastise one of the guest speakers (white male) for his "active," destructive use of hateful, prejudicial slurs against other people in general.

Through her despondency and grief--as were grieving "America proper"--Miss Angelou suggested the following:

Persons such as that particular guest speaker had no level of "conscious" that would allow themselves to "gauge" the results of their terroristic attack upon the psyche of those verbally assaulted. She further suggested that such "inappropriate" baneful comments do manage to--during such attacks--embed a "destructive" imprint upon the human psyche.

Miss Algelou closed with the suggestion that, perhaps, present-day America, as a whole, is--for some reason--yet to grow into that necessary level of "concern" and "conscious awareness."

Yet A Second Voice

Earilier that same day--

In the House of Representitives...a lone desenting vote was casted against the call: "by all means and any means necessary" resolution--the law-makers' response to the assault by others on American soil.

The Democratic Representitive Barbara Lee, of California, stood alone amongst a tidal wave of passions, as she tried to persuade her colleagues to not run swiftly towards retribution.

Representative Lee assured the body that she, too, understands the horror and was, as well, grieving with the rest of America.

But she further expressed the need to maintain a "moral compass." Miss Lee expressed her hope that all must realize that only in "good" conscious is her lone desenting vote given....
Historical....

Final Note....
An Earlier Historical Event

During the controversial Presidential vote count, a small Black Caucus "vied" to address a laxed American idealism...equality. But that small Black body was "gavelled" aside with the reminder that they had failed to procure two signatures from fellow senators...a body 100 strong in number....

Presently, however, within a matter of mere hours ninty-eight senators were of one voice in demanding "retribution." Yes, this same group--these senators had earlier insisted that America's Black population (of 10%) need not be counted amongst the American number.

Now--in the pains of terroristic passions--none recalls the personality of a Dr. Ralph Johnson Bunche. This Black U.S. statesman held a "bias" for equality...peace--giving voice to both--the Arab and the Israili--a voice here "locked down" with the "locking up" of the ballot box...and having like talents being "invested" abroad.

Now--in the pains of terroristic passions--now...is this same senate body to "trumpet" to the world that America is unified--one in heart...mind...and spirit.
