[Previous session]

The next morning, Pelmark took Laylah to see Mistress Theolodia, an elderly priestess of the Order of the Golden Eye (the Celestian Clerics specially devoted to Rashira, goddess of peace and prophecy). Theolodia cast spells to read Laylah's aura, and that of the swan feather that once belonged to her mother. The priestess received general impressions of the girl's past and personality, but nothing to solve the mystery of her "fits." Theolodia then left to cast a longer divination, which revealed that Laylah had received the gift of prophecy from the goddess Rashira. Theolodia could not tell her what to do with this power, but encouraged her to investigate to what the prophecy she uttered might pertain, and offered the help of herself, Pelmark, and their church if Laylah needed further help.

Darra and Fazia returned to the barracks. Darra told Ulfgar more of her background: she had been raised in a temple of Tovanira, had fought undead once before, and felt a need to investigate the creatures which Corben's group fought.

Ulfgar went to speak with Corben about the possibility of an expedition to accompany Darra south. Corben would speak to his companions about it while Ulfgar made a pitch to his superiors for supplies.

That night, Laylah had a dream of two horses running along a road beside a river flowing through farmland. When she woke, she asked Kazu for an escort to the temple. She recounted the dream to Pelmark and Theolodia; the old woman used magic to help the girl remember more details: One horse was small and dark, the other was a large and strongly built bay; a mountain range in the distance suggested that this was the Yangar River valley, and that the horses were running south. Further divinations proved little help.

Darra had seen Kazu in town and trailed the two circus-people on a whim. When Laylah emerged from the temple with Pelmark, he saw and accosted Darra. Laylah described her dream, then Darra confessed to being a werehorse and having plans to go south with Corben's company. The two young women found that they were from nearby parts of the northern lands--Darra from southern Riversmidst, Laylah from just across the border into the Bogmoors. They parted, hoping to talk later about "home."

During the day, Fazia sparred with Corben's company, on orders from Ulfgar to assess their skills. They were competent, but only Bran (a master at polearm use) truly impressed her.
