WRESTLING: Considering that she seems to be there more for sex appeal than ring wizardry, Caliente is not as bad as you might think. Her finisher, the Mexican Surfboard, is unique in WOW and looks okay. Unlike some of the girls, she doesn't make you wonder "is this even supposed to be wrestling?" She holds her own, let's put it that way.
CHARACTER: Caliente is definitely over with the Great Western Forum fans, presumably in part because L.A. has a large Latino population, and in part because she does this little Mae West hoochie dance. By all rights, the dancing should be ridiculous, but she seems genuinely into it and the crowd loves it. Plus it gives the heels something to make fun of whenever they fight her. And, she recently informed us that she wants to be the "Latina soooooperwoman." How bad could that be?
LOOKS: She's not too bad. I don't think she's a real hottie, personally. She has nice legs. Her prominent nipples have been much discussed and need no further elucidation here.
COMMENTS: Even if they thinned the ranks of the ethnic jobbers, the "Latina sooooperwoman" (love it) would most likely survive because of her fan favorite status. I can't really argue. Somebody has to be at the bottom of the card, so it might as well be someone with personality who is likeable. Her likeability also makes it easier to get the heels over by beating her. Tangentially, it'd be awesome if Caliente could tag team with Ice Cold. They could be the McDLT Team! Hot side stays hot, cool side stays cool! But I can't see turning Caliente heel, or Ice Cold face. Oh well.
